The first DLC addition for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is here. It adds more than a hundred Pokemon, both new and returning, for players to catch, trade, and battle. One of those Pokemon returning from the Unova region in Gen 5 is Sewaddle, along with its evolutions. Sewaddle’s final evolution, Leavanny, has never seen much competitive play, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great Pokemon to have for any Trainer trying to catch them all or those who like the Pokemon’s design. Here’s a guide on how to get and evolve Sewaddle in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s DLC, The Teal Mask.

Evolving Sewaddle and Swadloon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

With The Teal Mask DLC installed, Trainers must make their way to Kitakami to find Sewaddle. The Bug-type Pokemon appears in the first zone the player will find themselves in once they reach the new area. Wandering around the rice field area outside of Mossai Town should result in the player stumbling upon multiple Sewaddle crawling around on the ground, with the only challenge being that the Pokemon does blend in pretty well with the grass as a result of its color.

In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, evolving Sewaddle into its first-stage evolution, Swadloon, is simple. Sewaddle only needs to reach Level 20 in order to evolve. Once the player has Swadloon, evolving into Leavanny is a little trickier. Swadloon will only evolve into Leavanny once the Pokemon levels up with high friendship. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, friendship can be achieved in a number of ways, most notably winning battles, giving the Pokemon a Soothe Bell to hold, interacting with the Pokemon during picnics, and giving it items like berries, vitamins, and Rare Candies.

Friendship can be a bit of a frustrating stat to raise since it’s hard to gauge how close Swadloon is to your Trainer. Nevertheless, eventually, it should evolve into Leavanny. Both of Sewaddle’s evolutions can also be captured in the wild across various locations in Kitakami.

Sewaddle, Swadloon, and Leavanny have also become available to transfer over from Pokemon Home for any player who has obtained them in past games. This is regardless of whether or not the player has The Teal Mask DLC, so any player who hasn’t bought or can’t buy the DLC isn’t entirely out of luck if they really want Leavanny.
