Hydrapple is a new Pokemon added to the latest and final Scarlet and Violet DLC, The Indigo Disk. It’s one of the only new Pokemon that isn’t a Paradox or Legendary but a new evolution in the line of the 8th generation Pokemon, Applin. It’s also the first second-stage evolution for Applin, the next stage after Applin’s recently added Teal Mask evolution, Dipplin, and the method for getting Hydrapple is a little unorthodox.
How to Get the Hydrapple Evolution in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Before Hydrapple was released, every Applin evolution could be achieved via various apple-themed evolution items like the Sweet Apple, Tart Apple, and Syrupy Apple. Hydrapple doesn’t require its previous form Dipplin, to receive a new one of these apples for its evolution, though, but rather it requires a move to be known.
One of the new moves added into Scarlet and Violet, along with the Indigo Disk DLC, is Dragon Cheer. It can be taught to Dipplin via a TM obtained after beating Drayton. If the Dragon Cheer TM has already been used on a different Pokemon, it’s possible to craft Dragon Cheer, but only after Drayton has been beaten. If Dipplin is leveled up while knowing Dragon Cheer, it will evolve into Hydrapple.
