Kessime’s Legacy is an essential part of a Necromancer’s build, that is if you’re running a Blood Wave build in Diablo 4 in Season 7. Not only does it help push demons into groups, they’ll take even more damage from your Blood Wave. It’s a massive damage boost to the build, which is particularly helpful for pushing higher tiers in The Pit. And although Kessime’s Legacy is a Unique item, you can find it relatively easily in Diablo 4 if you know where to look.
How to Get Kessime’s Legacy in Diablo 4 (The Best Method)
There are multiple sources for Kessime’s Legacy in Diablo 4, and you can try your luck with the following:
- Defeating demons (Legions, World Bosses, Nightmare Dungeons)
- The Purveyor of Curiosity (by spending Obols)
- Opening Tortured Gifts of Protection (in Helltide Events)
- Defeating Lord Zir

Now, out of all the methods, the two that are the best are putting Lord Zir six feet under and opening Tortured Gifts of Protection. However, out of those two methods, defeating Lord Zir is going to be the better of the two.
Here’s why: Lord Zir—and all the Uber bosses—have unique loot tables, and in Zir’s case, he’ll drop Kessime’s Legacy. With Tortured Gifts of Protection, you can minimize the Legendaries that drop to armor, but you’re dealing with a much larger loot table.
In other words, if you want Kessime’s Legacy in Diablo 4, the best way to get it is by killing Lord Zir over and over until it drops.
How to Summon Lord Zir in Diablo 4

With Lord Zir being an Uber boss, you need a handful of items to summon him. Head into the Ancient’s Seat Dungeon, inside The Darkened Way (it’s in Gale Valley within the Fractured Peak). You also need to on Torment I, which is unlocked when you reach level 60 and beat Tier 20 in The Pit.
Got all that? Lastly, you’ll need 12 Exquisite Blood. It’s a material you can get from the following sources:
- Legions
- World Bosses
- Helltide Bloodmaiden (in Helltide Events)
- Treasure Goblins
When you’re inside the Ancient’s Seat, you’ll see an altar. Using the Exquisite Blood, you can summon Lord Zir, defeat him, and (hopefully) he’ll drop Kessime’s Legacy. Oh, and you can double dip by opening Tortured Gifts of Protection when you’re farming materials to summon the Helltide Bloodmaiden.
