Leather is an advanced material in Stranded Deep used for crafting various high-end items, such as the Tier-3 Tool Belt Pouch, Speargun, Leather Waterskin, and Sleeping Bag. Although not essential for survival, these items can undoubtedly aid players on their adventure to becoming more efficient at self-sustainment and developing their equipment and base camp. For instance, the third-tier Tool Belt Pouch grants users more hotkeys slots; as a result, work, such as farming and crafting items in Stranded Deep, will go more smoothly and quickly. Procuring Leather in Stranded Deep
To make Leather in Stranded Deep, players will first need Rawhide, a resource that can be obtained from killing and skinning Sharks and Boars. Once users have procured the hide, the next step is making a Tanning Rack, a workstation made using 2 Sticks and 2 Lashing.

Sticks can be found on the ground all around the starter island of Stranded Deep, or they can be obtained from chopping down trees. On the other hand, Lashing is a crafted resource made from 4 Fibrous Leaves, a natural material taken from trees or by finding them on the ground. Once players have these two materials, they can make Tanning Rack. According to YouTuber GamingWithJJ, survivors can convert Rawhide into Leather by opening the Quick Craft Menu when standing near the Tanning Rack. In the wheel of options, players will be able to select the option to craft Leather.
It should be mentioned that Leather can also be discovered in shipwreck containers and survivor remains in Stranded Deep. Therefore, it is always worthwhile searching these loot caches if users are ever low on Rawhide or have no weaponry to kill Sharks or Boars. Another vital detail to note is that crafting Leather requires players to be at Craftsmanship Level 3. If they are at any level lower than this requirement, the option to make Leather in the Quick Craft Menu will not be available. To quickly reach Craftsmanship Level 3, users at Game Rant suggest crafting Crude Spears repeatedly, as this recipe only requires a single Stick. Because players will have access to an abundance of Sticks on the island, they should be able to reach Level 3 in not time.
Stranded Deep is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
