Murmuring Obols are one of the many items you can collect in Diablo 4. However, obtaining them isn’t the same as collecting any other monster-drop items and only happens under certain circumstances in Diablo 4 events. Murmuring Obols are collected from Murmuring Caches, which can be consumed to award you 50x Murmuring Obols. Murmuring Obols are a type of currency that can be used to purchase mysterious items from the Purveyor of Curiosities. Keep reading to learn more about how to get Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4.
Getting Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4
Murmuring Obols are a special type of currency within the game that allows you to make purchases with the Purveyor of Curiosities. You can find the Purveyor of Curiosities in many towns throughout Sanctuary, where Diablo 4 takes place. This is a similar mechanic to Kadala and her Blood Shard in Diablo 3 if you are at all familiar with the game. With Kadala, you were able to buy a random gear item, with the possibility of it being Legendary or even Ancient. However, in this case, Murmuring Obols are used to get Legendary Aspects that can’t be obtained by clearing dungeons and even for getting Whispering Keys. Whispering Keys can allow you to unlock Silent Chests that spawn throughout Sanctuary’s Overworld.
To obtain Murmuring Obols, you will have to complete events in Sanctuary’s Overworld. That said, finding events is relatively easy. They spawn all over the place randomly and can even be accidentally found while exploring. For each event you participate in, you can complete the Mastery requirement, which is fully optional and will reward you with up to 35 Murmuring Obols. However, you can also pick up some Murmuring Caches in the process. Each Murmuring Cache gives you 50x Murmuring Obols when you use it, making them quite valuable.
To see how many Murmuring Obols you have, head to the Character Sheet rather than your bags. This can be done by pressing the C, or I buttons on your keyboard. Once you’re there, head over to the Materials and Stats section to the right of your character. There, you can view all of your currency types. There may be a maximum amount of Murmuring Obols you can hold in the beginning of the game, but there is a good chance you will be able to increase this later on in your gameplay.
