Want to know how to get Rugged Rhino Beetles in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? Even with good armor, it’s vital to have alternative sources to boost your defense. Of course, you can cook delicious meals with defense buff, but don’t forget about elixirs. To brew a specific buff elixir, you will need an ingredient with the required properties, and Rugged Rhino Beetles are what you need for defense. In addition, there are several ways to get Rugged Rhino Beetles in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, and today we will tell you about them.

As we said earlier, you can get Rugged Rhino Beetles in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom in several ways:

  • First, you can get the Rugged Rhino Beetle as a random drop from the Evermean monster.
  • Secondly, you can visit the habitats of these beetles and collect them from trees and stumps.

To get started, we suggest focusing on finding and killing Evermean to get at least one Rugged Rhino Beetle. You can find Evermean in any undergrowth forest throughout Hyrule, so this shouldn’t be a big problem. If you have recently started your travels, you can visit the Central Hyrule forests, such as Great Hyrule Forest, Hyrule Forest Park, and Applean Forest.

Encountering this monster, cut it down to receive your reward, but be aware that the drop rate for Rugged Rhino Beetles is low. You will probably need to kill at least ten Evermeans to find the right beetle. On the other hand, during this time, you will farm many other resources, such as Energetic Rhino Beetle, Bladed Rhino Beetle, Korok Frond, or Golden Apples.

However, once you get at least one Rugged Rhino Beetle, take a photo of it to add to your Compendium. After that, go to the habitat of these beetles and find them with the Sensor Plus. Select the Rugged Rhino Beetles in Compendium and activate the Sensor to find all the beetles in the area. You can unlock this feature by completing the Hateno Village Research Lab quest. So if you still have not completed this quest, we advise you to fix it as soon as possible.

As for the habitats of Rugged Rhino Beetles, they are common in the forests of West and East Necluda. But we advise you to go straight to the dense Bronas Forest in the Faron region. This area is full of beetles of all types, so you can easily find as many as you need. These beetles always sit on tree trunks, stumps, and ancient logs. But since beetles are small, having the Sensor Plus is the key to success.

After collecting some Rugged Rhino Beetles, you can use them to brew Tough Elixir. But you will also need Any Monster Part to finish the recipe. Thanks to this potion, you can increase your defense. However, there are none of the other uses for this beetle.

Tears of the Kingdom is available on Nintendo Switch.
