In soulslike games, surviving challenging enemies can be a heavy task. This is where healing comes into play, and in Lords of the Fallen, you will need to use and upgrade your Sanguinarix Flask to heal. If you are familiar with Dark Souls, this tool is similar to the Estus Flask. To improve the flask and get more healing power, you will need to get Saintly Quintessence in Lords of the Fallen. Unfortunately, these items are scarce and pretty hard to obtain as you will need to deal with dead souls of Umbral throughout your playthrough.

To get Saintly Quintessence in Lords of the Fallen, you will need to venture into the Umbral Realm and battle against tormented souls of this realm. Some of these enemies emit a golden glow, and this is your cue for the Saintly Quintessence.

Keep an eye out for golden-haloed corpses in the Umbral realm. These are known to drop Saintly Quintessence when you Soulflay them.

Additional methods that can grant you Saintly Quintessence include:

  1. Purchasing from merchants
  2. Looting chests, dead bodies, and items on the ground
  3. Competing quests and defeating bosses.

Some players have reported a total of 16 Saintly Quintessence in both Lords of the Fallen realms. However, there is a chance more are scattered throughout the world.

  2. Pass into the Umbral realm if you haven’t dealt with the boss there.
  3. You’ll find a bloated body hanging on the wall, and Soul Flaying it will reveal the Saintly Quintessence.

Follow these steps to improve your healing flask:

  1. To upgrade Sanguinarix in Lords of the Fallen, you will first need to deal with the main boss, Pieta, She of Blessed Renewal.
  2. After you have beaten her, the NPC Pieta will spawn in the Skyrest hub. Find her near the Vestige of Ethryg.
  3. Interact with her and select the Upgrade Sanguinarix option. Each upgrade starts with one Saintly Quintessence, but it will gradually require more.
  4. Once you provide Pieta with Saintly Quintessence, she will do her magic and upgrade your Sanguinarix’s healing effectiveness and the number of charges it offers.
