Hunting sharks is a spooky business, but it’s worth facing your fears, and taking the plunge because there are a bunch of useful items that require Shark Fin in Terraria. Thankfully, they’re found in abundance along most shorelines in the game. To hunt Sharks, you should first know how to breathe underwater in the ocean biome. Assuming you’re up to speed with that, let’s jump right into where to find Sharks, and how to get Shark Fins the easy way.

To find a Shark Fin in Terraria, you first need to find the ocean. You can find the ocean on both the right and left sides of the map. To hunt down Sharks you should know how to breathe underwater in Terraria. The best time to hunt Sharks is during the Blood Moon because this is when sharks are most common.

You can also get Shark Fins from the Shark Statues in Terraria. And if you thinking of building a Shark Fin farm, do not hesitate to use Water Candle, and Battle Potion as they increase the spawn rate of mobs. Finding Shark Fins from Sand Sharks is much easier in Hardmode. Because they spawn the surface of the ocean during Sandstorms.

What Shark Fins Are Used For?

Shark Fins can be used to craft items like Megashark, Neptune’s Shell, Hunter Potion, and Water Walking Potion in Terraria. As the name Shark Fins suggests, they can be obtained from Sharks with a 98% drop chance. It can also be obtained from Sand Shark, Flesh Reaver, Crystal Thresher, and Bone Biter but has a drop chance of 12.5%.

How to Breathe Underwater in Terraria to Get Shark Fins

  • When you go Shark hunting to get Shark Fins in Terraria, you should carry Gills Potion with you. This option allows you to breathe underwater for up to 4 minutes. To make Gills Potion you need Coral, Water Reef, and Bottled Water. Once you have these materials, you can craft them with the help of Alchemy Table.
  • You can also extend your time underwater by using a Diving Helmet.
  • Your next option is to use the Breathing Reed. This item acts as a snorkel, and it can increase your time underwater in a primitive way. In this way, you can get Shark Fin in Terraria without drowning.
