Who doesn’t love the thrill of finding a wild shiny Pokémon? No, they don’t do anything different. There’s no improvement in stats or a special move unlocked. Instead, they are just awesome to look at. Like other games, it’s not easy to get shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. We’ll show you the various ways you can try to find some.

As is tradition, it’s time for you to hunt down some shiny Pokémon. One cool thing here is that you can see a shiny Pokémon before engaging them. So, there is no more guessing whether or not a battle will be with a shiny. Keep your eyes peeled while out hunting, so you don’t miss one.

Now, how do we get shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? Well, sometimes luck and chance work. However, you can increase the spawn rate. At its base, shiny Pokémon spawn odds are 1/4096. A bit much, but you can improve that.

First, consider Mass Outbreaks. Participating in these can help you increase your chances of finding a shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The more you clear out, the better your chances get. If you want a complete breakdown, check out the chart below posted by Sibuna_Switch on Twitter.

You can further improve your chances with Sandwiches and Shiny Charms.

In the case of Sandwiches, you will want to craft Sparkling Sandwiches. We’ve got a handy Sparkling Sandwich guide to help you craft specific types for specific shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

When it comes to a Shiny Charm, this can take some time because you must complete the Paldea Pokédex. A massive endeavor, especially since quite a few Pokémon are rare spawns in the game. So, using a Shiny Charm to improve your chances is not something that will happen right away. Still, it’s worth getting.

With a Shiny Charm and consuming a Sparkling Sandwich, you can enter a Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Mass Outbreak and more than likely come away with a shiny.

Shiny Pokémon can also come from eggs. This is done with the Masuda Method. With this, you will breed Pokémon while picnicking as you normally would. However, you have to breed Pokémon from two different language versions. So, two compatible Pokémon from the English version won’t give you the chance a shiny in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Something else to keep in mind is that you can use your Pokémon companion during “Let’s Go” to find shiny Pokémon. As your companion roams around, they can encounter a shiny on their own, but they won’t defeat it in battle. Because of this, you’ll know where the shiny is and can initiate another battle to catch it.

And those are the ways you can increase your chances of getting a shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
