The Artifact of Distortion is one of the most useful artifacts in the game, as it allows you to use skills much more often. Its main disadvantage is that it randomly blocks one of the skills every minute, but with the right strategy, you won’t have any problems. Let’s take a look at how to get the Artifact of Distortion in Risk of Rain Returns. Compared to most other artifacts, this one is much easier to get, but you should still be well-prepared because you need to be quite mobile to fulfill all the conditions.
Risk of Rain Returns: How to Obtain Artifact of Distortion
This puzzle is not too difficult to find because it’s not found in a secret room or place, as is usually the case with other artifacts. To get to the desired location, first reach stage 2, but make sure you’re on the Damp Caverns map, not the Sky Meadow.
Once you’re in Damp Caverns, move around the level and kill enemies to reach the top right of the map. When you get there, you will notice several platforms:
- A platform with an altar and two more around it.
- Several small platforms on the right side of the screen, one of which has a switch on it.
The altar from which you can retrieve the artifact is here, so the last thing left is to make the artifact appear.
To do this, you will need to interact with the switch on one of the floating platforms on the right. This is where most players have difficulties because the distance between the platforms is quite large, and it’s impossible to get there without the right items. To overcome the distance between the platforms and get to the switch, you can use one of these options:
- Artifact of Spirit (You’ll need to hurt yourself first to get low on health and be able to use the artifact).
- Photon Jetpack x1
- Hopoo Feathers x2
- Use the Crowd Control skill of the Enforcer class to interact with the switch without having to jump to it.
- Use the parachute available to the Pilot class to fly smoothly between platforms.
Next, you’ll need to interact with the switch, but it’s not that easy. The main problem is that the switch only activates after dealing powerful damage to it, so you’ll need to have the right item with you, or choose a class that can do this:
Once you successfully interact with the switch, you will notice that the artifact appears on the altar. Next, simply jump back and pick up the Artifact of Distortion in Risk of Rain Returns.
