Throughout Bright Falls, you will find Cult Stashes containing various useful items and upgrades. However, some of them are behind closed doors that players cannot open with a code or key. Therefore, you must find Bolt Cutters in Alan Wake 2 to get to the valuable loot. Luckily, this tool can be obtained by following the story.

Once you reach Chapter 5: Old Gods, you will be taken to Valhalla Nursing Home, where you will have to go through several loops. In one of them, you will find yourself in a room with a generator. Run it to activate switches in adjacent rooms. By turning the lights on and off, you can change these rooms. So, with the lights off, you will find a Tool Cabinet with Bolt Cutters inside. To open it, you will need to find the Tool Cabinet Key:

  1. Use the switch next to the Tool Cabinet to turn on the light and open the passage to the next room. There, you will see a door locked with a chain that cannot be opened without Bolt Cutters.
  2. In the same room, you will find a second switch. Activate it to turn on the light.
  3. The room will be transformed from ruins into an old office with various file cabinets. You may find some useful loot in them.
  4. Finally, check the drawers on the desk to get the Tool Cabinet Key.
