One of the Seasonal Challenges in Week 5 of the Season of Defiance in March 2023 of Destiny 2 requires Guardians to acquire a Legendary Glaive called Ecliptic Distaff. Not only does clearing this challenge grant Challenger XP and valuable Bright Dust, but you also obtain a solid hybrid-melee weapon type for both PvE and PvP, like the Nezarec’s Whisper. However, the Ecliptic Distaff definitely shines in PvE capabilities for Titans and Warlocks. For instance, this Legendary Glaive can be used by Void Warlocks to consistently proc Devour in combat, enabling this class to deal massive amounts of damage to enemy targets.
Unlocking the Ecliptic Distaff in Destiny 2
While the Exotic Glaive Edge of Intent required Guardians to complete an Exotic quest, the Ecliptic Distaff in Destiny 2 can be unlocked via Ritual Vendors in the Tower. More specifically, you can acquire this unique Ritual Weapon by reaching Rank 16 with Lord Shaxx, the Drifter, or Zavala.

According to Destiny 2 content creator GuidingLight, it does not matter if you choose the Playlists of the Crucible, Gambit, or Vanguard Strikes since the Ecliptic Distaff is the Rank 16 Reward for all three vendors in Destiny 2. In other words, choose the activity you are most familiar with or comfortable clearing and grind reputation until you hit the “16” mark. Depending on your availability to play, this process could take several hours or a few days. Nevertheless, we recommend choosing the Playlists where you find the most enjoyment to avoid feeling burnout from the grind.
After you have acquired the Ecliptic Distaff in Destiny 2 and wish to utilize it in combat, YouTuber Jedii Gaming recommends the Perk Ballistic Tuning for the Haft for a significant range boost. This Perk goes exceptionally well with “10 Shield Duration” as its Masterwork because the drawback of reduced shield duration is subsided. Jedii Gaming also suggests getting Alloy Magazine for faster reloading with the Glaive, as well as Replenishing Aegis and Immovable Object as the Traits. However, these two Traits are more geared toward those who use the Ecliptic Distaff’s ranged attacks instead of its melee. For more melee-focused users, Close to Melee and Destabilizing Rounds would be better.
Destiny 2 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PC.
