Before you think Kay’s punch is a bit overpowered, Han Solo did it first, so yes, it is possible to knock a Stormtrooper down with a haymaker. However, elite enemies in Star Wars Outlaws need a more “electrifying” approach, which is what the electro-shock prod is there for. If you’re tired of those pesky Gamorreans chasing you or don’t know how to deal with your wanted level and Death Troopers, this tool might come in handy when facing these foes.
Unlocking the Electro-Shock Prod
As you may or may not know, Star Wars Outlaws locks most of its tools and skills behind experts, and the electro-shock prod isn’t an exception. To unlock this tool, you must first find the Scavenger expert. To do so, you must start Akiva’s main quest and follow it until you install the upgrade that lets your speeder ride on water. Once that is done, you must start looking for specific materials to unlock the tool. Here’s what you need:
- NL-02 Charge Emitter
- Chalcopyrite x15
- Ion Cell x5
Chalcopyrite and Ion Cells are easy enough to find. As long as you open every chest while exploring, you should have the materials. If not, find traders in the main hubs and purchase the items you need. Remember, the materials you need for a skill will have a star next to their icon, making finding them much easier. However, the tricky component to find is the Nl-02 Charge Emitter. But don’t worry, because we also have the exact location of it.
Finding the NL-02 Charge Emitter
Before you try to find the NL-02 Charge Emitter, head to your abilities menu and start tracking the material. You must visit the Excavation Site 12. To reach it, you need to use the abovementioned speeder upgrade that lets you ride on water. If you’re tracking the quest, it should send you to an island in the middle of the lake. This place is full of Imperials, so it will be tricky to infiltrate. But if you don’t mind a bit of a challenge, your destination is the tent in the middle of the excavation site. You can use the image below as a reference.
Once you enter the tent in the middle, open the chest next to the crates, and you’ll get the last part for your electro-shock prod. All you must do now is head to the abilities menu to unlock it. Remember that the electro-shock prod is the only thing that allows you to stun elite enemies in Star Wars Outlaws. So, with the tool in your belt, let’s see how to electrify these strong foes.
Stunning Elite Enemies
While you can blast every enemy in the face, sometimes a bit of finesse is necessary. Since Death Troopers, Droids, and Gamorreans are immune to Kay’s punch, you have to use the electro-shock prod. The process of using it is the same as trying to take out a normal enemy. Sneak behind an elite enemy and press the button that appears to stun them. However, after some unlucky experimentation, I discovered this only works when approaching elite enemies from the back, so it seems whistling and attracting them toward high grass doesn’t work.
While it might take a while to unlock, the electro-shock prod is one of the best tools you can get in Star Wars Outlaws and one you should consider unlocking as soon as possible. Then again, if you prefer a loud approach, you can steal the conveniently placed blaster rifles and blast away.
