Who doesn’t love a good fourth wall break? Spirittea nails the trope a few times, but one case stands out. There’s no set point in the game that this happens, but your text box will eventually change. Blue-like goo spreads on the text box, but not just yours. It happens to everyone you speak to. So, it’s up to you (as per usual) to fix the mess a spirit causes. You can do that in Spirittea once you find and make the Purifying Elixir recipe.
Where To Find the Elixir Scroll
When you notice the goo littering the text box, Wonyan will mention the Purifying Elixir. However, the scroll with the recipe on it is buried somewhere in a graveyard near town. There’s no further information than that. You’ll need to buy a shovel from Song’s Shop beforehand, though.
To get the Purifying Elixir in Spirittea, head south toward the temple, shovel in hand, and search the various graveyards. You’re in luck, though. I did all the random digging, so you don’t have to. Sometimes, it does help to jump into Spirit Vision, but it’s not always clear where you should dig in grass. But if you head to the spot in the map above, dig near the tall headstone that sits in the top right corner of that graveyard.
Purifying Elixir Recipe in Spirittea
So, we’ve got the scroll. Now it’s time to make the Elixir so that Wonyan can stop fussing about it. You’ll need the following resources for the Purifying Elixir recipe in Spirittea:
- Sakura Blossom
- Location: East of the bathhouse, cross the rocky path over the stream to see the Sakura Blossom tree. Collect Sakura Blossoms from the ground.
- White Rice
- Location: Convenience Store
- Rice Wine Vinegar
- Location: Convenience Store
When you have all of the ingredients, you can head home or to the bathhouse and Ferment the ingredients to make the Purifying Elixir in Spirittea.
Using the Purifying Elixir
When you first make the Purifying Elixir, Wonyan will automatically use it on the text box. Now, you know that Onishi, the spirit that hid away in the text box earlier, is behind it all. Keep that in mind when you open the bathhouse.
If Onishi shows up, the spirit not only takes up plenty of space but also likes playing in the bathwater. It will dump some of that gross blue goo, flooding the bath. Any other spirit inside will rightfully panic. If you want to ensure their happiness, you can simply hold the Purifying Elixir and use the action button at the tainted Spirittea bath. It will clear right away.
The Onishi will continue to do it, but the bath will slowly clean itself without the Elixir. I recommend saving up Moolags to afford the private bath expansion. This way, you can place Onishi alone so it can enjoy its tainted bath.
Spirittea is available on PC, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
