From mages to spell tomes, the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is filled with magic and wonder. On the Transference of Souls is a mysterious grimoire with two volumes that contain forgotten magic. Most players will likely encounter the second half of this book first, and you should refrain from selling it because it’s a quest item. Once you enter Bakbattahl in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you can start the Short-Sighted Ambition quest, where you must get the whole copy of On the Transference of Souls.

How To Complete Short-Sighted Ambition Quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2

While there are two volumes of On the Transference of Souls, you can only get your hands on the second book. A man named Isaac holds the first half of the grimoire, and you can meet him in the city of Bakbattahl.

You can only enter the Battahl region by passing the Checkpoint Rest Town and showing a permit to the soldier guarding the gate. Complete all the main story missions in Vermund, and Captain Brant will give you the necessary documents.

Isaac is the owner of Isaac’s Wares, which sells various potions and other adventuring items. The man mentions having a mysterious book that can help his family get out of poverty. However, he needs a Ripened Quince to fix his bad eyesight.

Quince is a common fruit that you can gather in the Battahl region. It has a yellow color and looks a bit similar to a lemon. To get Ripened Quince, you must hold one fresh fruit in your inventory and wait a day.

After giving the food, Isaac asks you to bring him the second half of On the Transference of Souls. You must return to Checkpoint Rest Town and purchase the book from Ibrahim’s Scrap Store for 2,000 Gold.

After you give the grimoire to Isaac, he will ask you to wait until tomorrow. When you return the next day, the man will invite you to watch him perform the forgotten magic. Unfortunately, things will not go well because the spell will turn his wife and daughter to dust.

Completing the Short-Sighted Ambition quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 grants you these rewards:

  • 3,000 EXP
  • Ring of Disfavor

You can pick up the Ring of Disfavor from the remains of Isaac’s wife and daughter. This accessory makes its wearer more likely to be targeted by enemies.
