As you progress through Starfield, you must farm various materials to use them for crafting, building, and trading. But while materials such as Lead or Adhesive will accompany you throughout the game, Potatoes will only come in handy a couple of times. Of course, you can cook a couple of dishes or eat them raw to restore 1 HP, but there are plenty of much more satisfying alternative foods. The value of Potatoes only becomes apparent during the Escape From the Endless Voyage quest. However, whatever your purposes, we’re here to help you and tell you how to get and use Potatoes in Starfield.

Unfortunately, the only way to get Potatoes in Starfield is to buy them from vendors in the AID section. The average cost of this product is only 29-35 Credits, so you can purchase all stocks of this good from any seller. Although you can buy this vegetable in many stores, one of the most convenient places is Shepherd’s Store in Akila City.

It is worth noting that you will need 50 Potatoes for the Escape From the Endless Voyage quest. And so much is not offered by any seller. So once you’ve purchased all the Potatoes, sit in the nearest chair and skip 24-48 hours. The store assortment will be updated, and you will be able to get more of the desired product.

Can You Farm Potatoes at Outposts?

Unfortunately, the answer is No, you can’t farm Potatoes at Outposts. Often, you can only grow in the Greenhouse those products that live on this planet. That is, you automate the farming process of those plant crops that exist on this planet. But since Potatoes don’t grow on any planet, you won’t be able to grow them.

How To Use Potatoes in Starfield

As we said earlier, by spending 50 Potatoes, you can complete the Escape From the Endless Voyage quest. Rest assured, Janet Yang will greatly appreciate your efforts. However, otherwise, Potatoes are an almost useless vegetable for your playthrough. Of course, you can eat it or make a delicious Shepherd’s Pie. But despite this, you can easily do without this dish.

What’s more fun, Potatoes is one of Starfield’s Easter eggs. After all, at first glance, the usual description of the Potatoes is an exact repetition of the words of Samwise to Gollum during their journey. This information won’t help you in any way, but it’s a fun fact to share with your friends.
