One excellent way to make one’s home cozier in Valheim is by adding furnishings made of Red Jute, such as Red Jute Curtains for doorways and Red Jute Carpets for living rooms. This sturdy fabric is also used for festive decorations, including Mistletoe and the Yule Wreath. While the winter holidays of 2022 have long passed, it is never too early or too late to add some holiday spirit to one’s Nordic home. However, the process of procuring the Red Jute for these furniture pieces is anything but jolly and can result in an adventurer’s demise if they are not well-prepared.

Encountering a Cultist in Valheim

To get Red Jute in Valheim, travelers must enter the frigid wilderness of the Mountain Biome in search of Frost Caves, which the vicious Cultists call their home. Slaying a Cultist yields a guaranteed drop of one to two stacks of Red Jute. This fabric resource can also be acquired from the ragged curtains found within the Frost Caves.

Before venturing into the Mountain Biome of Valheim, it is essential to have a form of Frost Resistance to prevent players from perishing of hypothermia. Frost Resistance can be acquired temporarily via the effects of Frost Resistance Mead, a brew made using Honey, Thistle, Bloodbags, and a Greydwarf Eye. Alternatively, adventurers can hunt down Wolves and use their Pelts to make Frost-resistant armor. Whatever the case, those who enter the Mountains and Frost Caves without protection from the cold will not last long, even if they are properly equipped to take on the Cultists.

According to YouTuber Alessio, defeating Valheim Cultists for their Red Jute is not as simple as standing still and relentlessly melee attacking. These Cultists have powerful claw swipes that can be parried, but they also can cast a fire spell that cannot be blocked. However, the slow animation and cast time required to use a Cultist’s fire spell causes the enemy to remain immobile for a few seconds. During this time, players can maneuver around their opponent and land several attacks with backstabbing damage. If adventurers lack the room to get behind a Cultist, they can instead find an elevated spot from which they can deal ranged damage to the mob, as Cultists cannot jump. As noted above, Valheim Cultists are guaranteed to drop Red Jute once slain.

Valheim is available for PC but will release in early 2023 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
