The Brood Mother is a Nekrobug that serves as the bounty target for a Legendary Hunt in Borderlands 3. This hunt is a Crew Challenge given to players by Sir Hammerlock, who requests the player protagonists’ “aid in slaying some of the most vicious creatures in the universe.” Killing the Brood Mother has a significantly high chance of granting hunters Legendary loot, such as the Dastardly Maggie, a special Masher-style Pistol that fires six projectiles per shot. Each subsequent shot that leaves the barrel received a debuff on its accuracy and damage, but the Pistol can still outperform most revolvers thanks to its high damage output.
Finding and Defeating the Brood Mother in Borderlands 3
The Brood Mother can be encountered in The Pyre of Stars, a massive system of tunnels and chambers within Nekrotafeyo, the final planet players explore during Borderlands 3‘s main campaign. Unlike the Borderlands 3 miniboss Manvark, the Brood Mother does not spawn at a named location, but the spot remains the same for any playthrough.

How to Find Manvark in Borderlands 3
YouTube content creator Almar Winfield states that the Brood Mother’s lair in Borderlands 3 can be found in a sizeable alcove, slightly south of the main trail starting from the Destroyer’s Path. However, the lair is next to a drop-off point with several ledges leading back to the entrance of the zone. In other words, players must go around the entire map to reach the Brood Mother’s position. Almar Winfield claims that if combatants have the means to boost themselves on the ledges at the end of the path, they can skip past the long route to reach the target. Nevertheless, those who lack a boosting device or rocket launcher will need to fight or run past the hordes of dangerous foes to the Legendary Hunt bounty’s den.
Upon arrival, there is a 25% chance that the Brood Mother will spawn in its den in Borderlands 3. Unfortunately, there is no way to physically summon the beast if it fails to appear. However, players can exploit the process of quitting the game to reset the spawn. If players perform this restarting procedure enough times, they should be able to eventually “summon” the Brood Mother and kill it for its Epic and Legendary loot drops.
Borderlands 3 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
