Hogwarts Legacy, the open-world Harry Potter game, is a dream come true for most fans. Especially since you can create your own character to live in the Wizarding World. Although the character creator won’t let us play as the real Albus Dumbledore, below are several options that let us make the closest build to how Dumbledore would fight in Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts Legacy Dumbledore Build – Appearance
Unfortunately, the game does not let us play as characters from the movies. And while a character customization feature does exist, it’s not robust enough to let us tweak our playable character into Michael Gambon or the late Richard Harris. Still, Paarth Wadke from Gamertweak.com has found a “close enough” option to make your character look somewhat like a young Dumbledore, which fits with the Hogwarts Legacy‘s settings taking place in the 18th century.

Hogwarts Legacy Dumbledore Build – Wand
Now, you would want to obtain Dumbledore’s Elder Wood when customizing your Wand:
1. Unlock the Elder Wand through the Wizarding World website
When you’ve arrived at the Ollivanders’ shop, if you have linked your Harry Potter Fan Club and WB Games accounts (and completed the “Get Sorted Now” and “Find Your Wand” quizzes), the game will give you a Wand that’s associated with your Harry Potter Fan Club account instead of a random one.
To get the Elder Wand for your account, you have to answer the following questions properly:
- Question 1: First of all, would you describe yourself as…
- Any answer is fine
- Question 2: And your eyes…
- Blue
- Question 3: Was the day on which you were born…
- Any answer is fine
- Question 4: Do you most pride yourself on your…
- Intelligence
- Question 5: Traveling alone down a deserted road, you reach a crossroads. Do you continue…
- Right towards the castle
- Question 6: Do you most fear…
- Fire (for Unicorn Hair Core)
- Heights (for Dragon Heartstring Core)
- Darkness (for Phoenix Feather Core)
- Question 7: In a chest of magical artifacts, which would you choose…
- Glittering Jewel (for Unicorn Hair Core)
- Silver Dagger(for Dragon Heartstring Core)
- Bound Scroll (for Phoenix Feather Core)
2. Customize Your Own at Ollivander’s Shop
After unlocking the Elder Wood, try following these options to get your Hogwarts Legacy Wand as close to Dumbledore’s:
- Wood Type: Elder Wood
- Length: 14.5 inches
- Flexibility: Unyielding
- Wand Style: Ringed, Dark Brown
- Wand Core: You can pick any
Do note that after this section, your Wand choices will be locked for the remainder of the game. You can only change the Wand Handles later.
Hogwarts Legacy Dumbledore Build – Skills and Spells
Last but not least, we will refer to Fextralife for the Albus Dumbledore-style character build and playstyle:
- Preferred House: Gryffindor
- Spells:
- Key Talents:
- Glacius Mastery
- Slowing Curse
- Enduring Curse
- Curse Sapper
- Protego Absorption
- Basic Cast Mastery
- Protego Expertise
- Protego Mastery
- Basic Cast Airborne Absorption
- Traits:
- Ancient Magic Focus III
- Ancient Magic III
The Albus Dumbledore Hogwarts Legacy build works by using Arresto Momentum to Curse a target with Slowing Curse Talent, then attacking them with basic attacks or moving on to another enemy. Using Enduring Curse Talent extends the duration of the damage debuff, while Curse Sapper Talent heals you when you defeat the Cursed enemy. Glacius freezes an annoying target, and Depulso is used to throw targets away and deal damage. Incendio is used defensively, particularly against Undead enemies. This build focuses heavily on Protego by increasing its efficacy, adding damage, and granting more projectiles reflected. By building up Ancient Magic quickly with the Basic Cast Airborne Absorption Talent, the Protego Absorption Talent, and Evasion Talents, this build allows you to make up for your lack of Damage Spells in your arsenal.
Ancient Magic is the key component of this build, which often one-shot any enemy in the game. By using the Ancient Magic Focus III Trait on all gear and seeking out Ancient Magic Hotspots across the map, you can quickly build up Ancient Magic, increasing the number of one-shot attacks you can use. With this Build, you can remove annoying targets from the fight using Glacius, throw enemies with Depulso, and deal damage to them with Incendio. By focusing on Protego, you can use the Protego Absorption Talent and Evastion Talents to gain Ancient Magic Build Up, allowing you to unleash several one-shot attacks in combat.
