How To Make (& Use) a Deviation Energy Generator in Once Human

The things you do for power

You might think you don’t need more electricity in Once Human right now, but trust me, it’s the only way to have a good-looking and functional base in the game. Sadly, the apocalypse destroyed the fossil fuel system (as it should), and you’re left looking for alternative power sources. It just so happens that Deviations generate power. Thus, I’ll teach you how to harness that and how to make a Deviation Energy Generator.

How to Unlock the Deviation Energy Generator in Once Human

First things first, you need to unlock the associated Memetic for the Deviation Energy Generator. You need to reach Power Upgrade II in the 05 section of the Logistics tab. Here’s what the Memetic path looks like and their corresponding Cipher and Energy Link cost, all of these are in the Logistics tab:

Memetic NameCost
Solar Generator (Tier 03)5x Cipher
700 Energy Link
Electrical Kit (Tier 03)5x Cipher
700 Energy Link
Power Upgrade I (Tier 04)7x Cipher
2000 Energy Link
Hydraulic Generators (Tier 04)7x Cipher
2000 Energy Link
Power Upgrade II (Tier 05)10x Cipher
5000 Energy Link

So all in all, prepare 34 Ciphers and 10,400 Energy Link for the whole Memetic line. Additionally, once you’ve unlocked the Deviation Energy Generator, you also need the following materials to build it:

Materials Needed
100x Tungsten Ingot
40x Electronic Part
40x Automatic Part
40x Special Plastic
100x Stardust Source
8x Fuse

Get all those ready and you’re set to build the Deviation Energy Generator. However, it’s recommended to pick a good spot for the Deviation Energy Generator to maximize its power output.

How to Use the Deviation Energy Generator

You can’t just plop it anywhere, sadly. You need to use the Deviation Energy Generator in an area with Stardust Pollution. Otherwise, you’ll be generating little to no power for the structure.

That very well means you need to move your base if you want to fully utilize the Deviation Energy Generator. The game will usually tell you whether you’re in a Stardust-polluted area and other indications include your backpack numbers and the Sanity debuff on your HP.

Fret not as there are other benefits to moving your base and living in an area with Stardust Pollution. For one, there are devices and other structures in Once Human that can even turn Stardust into materials (with the right Specialization). So you just have to embrace the high-risk, high-reward playstyle past a certain point.
