With the arrival of GTA 5 and GTA Online Enhanced, the previous PC version is now known as Legacy. What this means is that this new major update brings all the enhancements and features that PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions had. Now, everyone’s on the same playing field and can enjoy an even better PC version with all the content that’s been missing for years. Fortunately, you can also migrate your legacy account to GTA Online enhanced, but to do so, you’ll need to follow a few steps to do it correctly.
Migrating Your Legacy Account to GTA 5 and GTA Online Enhanced
While Rockstar Games has already posted a lengthy article on how to do it, we’ll also break down some of the steps, so you don’t get scared if a few things go awry or if the process takes longer than expected. In truth, to migrate your Legacy account to GTA 5 and GTA Online Enhanced is quite easy and you only need to press a few buttons to do so. So, here are the steps you must follow:
- Make sure you’re logging into your account.
- This might be an obvious step, but regardless of where you’re launching the game from, make sure you’re logged into the account you always use. If not, double-check and make sure all the information is correct before starting the process.
- Launch the game normally and wait for the landing page.
- Once you launched the Enhanced version, you’ll see a new landing page. This page shows three tabs, Online, Story, and GTA+.
- Select “Online.”
- Once you select Online, enter as if it were your first time and wait for the cutscene to end. After that, you’ll see a screen with the profiles you can migrate.
- Select your profile and confirm the migration process.
- After you see your profile, confirm that’s the one you want to migrate and wait for the process to complete. Note: The process is usually instant. For us, it took less than a minute, but it may vary for others.
- Select your character and enter GTA Online.
- After your profile is migrated, you’ll see your characters and will be able to play with them normally.
Can I Migrate My Profile Back to Legacy?
No. So far it seems that the process is a one-way trip. Once your profile is in the Enhanced version of GTA 5 and GTA Online, you won’t be able to migrate it back.
Can I Migrate My Legacy Account to Another Platform?
No. This only works from PC to PC. You can’t migrate your profile from PC to PS5 or vice versa.
I Don’t See My Profile In the Migrate Menu
This can happen due to several reasons. The most common one is an issue on Rockstar’s servers. Sometimes connection can be spotty and restarting the game might show the profile again. However, if you’ve been banned before or have any hacked money on your account, you may be ineligible for the migration process. If that’s the case, you’ll need to create a new character.
What Carries Over to the Enhanced Version?
So far, we’ve seen everything carrying over. From career progress to vehicles, and all your business. Everything should be there once you get this new version.
