Starfieldย has several customization options, such asย traitsย for your character and variousย ship parts. But as you participate in more battles, you will gain experience, which allows you to learn new skills. These skills can make or break a build or enable your character to thrive where others would fail. But the initial ranks of a skill aren’t very special. It’s the future ranks that bring most of the appeal and let you get creative. But those ranks are hard to access even if you have an abundance of skill points. Here’s how to rank up skills inย Starfieldย and why paying attention is important.

How to Get More Skill Points in Starfield

To rank up your skills inย Starfield, you must first have the actual skill available. You can see the skill on the row if you want to decide if it is for you. This also lets you see whether the rank upgrade would be worthwhile. Once you learn the skill, select it on the skill menu, and you will see a Challenge Progress note. That Challenge must be completed before the Rank can be progressed. This means you can’t go from Rank 1 to Rank 4 immediately, as you must work your way up.

The Challenge will be different for each skill. Stealth requires getting Stealth Kills, while Theft requires stealing from people. It’s essential to read what the requirements are because they aren’t always what you think they would be. Your progress during these challenges will automatically be tracked as you go. These notices will appear on the left when you have reached certain Challenge milestones.ย

Completing your Challenge will give you a small noise and a notification that you can progress to the next Rank. It’s not a straightforward process, but it’s easy to rank up your skills inย Starfield.

There is no level limit for ranking up your skills. You don’t have to be Level 34 before you can access the Rank 3 skills. But you must be sure it’s a skill you can take, and you must consider skills that will be available in the future.ย

While you don’t have strict limits for experimentation, future skills can help round out your build or cover for any weaknesses. But as long as you know how to rank up skills inย Starfield, it’s easier to pursue your ideal build. Always read the description and think about the character you would like to build, then rank up.
