This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

As you travel through the Koronus Expanse, you will encounter several companions in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader. There are ten recruitable companions in total which you will meet throughout your adventure. There are also secret companions that you can recruit if certain conditions are met. Only one secret companion can be recruited per playthrough. Here’s what you must do to recruit all the secret companions in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader.

To recruit the secret companions in Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader, you must lean into one of three Convictions. They are Dogmatic, Heretical, and Iconoclast, which offer different combat benefits as your belief strengthens. While you will meet some secret companions throughout your journey, they will only join your if your Conviction is at least Votary (third level).

After your Conviction reaches Votary, you won’t be able to boost the other two Convictions past Adherent (second level). This also prevents your Conviction from dropping below Votary, locking you into your path. Meeting your secret companions later will let them take note of your Conviction, determining if they will join you.

Since you can only pursue one Conviction at a time, you can’t recruit more than one secret companion per playthrough. This means you can have a maximum of 11 companions at one time. The only exception is Heretical, where several companions will leave if you choose that Conviction by Act 4.

The secret companions you can recruit are:

  • Calligos Winterscale: Iconoclast
  • Incendia Bastaal-Chorda: Dogmatic
  • Uralon: Heretical

Both Calligos and Incendia are easy to recruit as long as you meet their Conviction. Uralon is easy to miss because not only must you pursue Heretical decisions, you also need to put together Blade Shards. If you miss out on getting a Blade Shard in Act 1, you cannot get Uralon even with Heretical at Votary.

Every secret companion has a different recruitment process and it only takes place during Act 4. Here’s what you must do for each companion to recruit them into your party.

Calligos Winterscale

You meet Calligos in Act 2 during the Coronation and he provides several opportunities to boost your Iconoclast Conviction. When you travel to Quetza Tamer in Act 4, you will reunite with Calligos while he’s fighting against the Aeldari. Assist Calligos in wiping out the Aeldari or find a peaceful resolution and he joins you at the final battle of Act 4.

Incendia Bastaal-Chorda

Incendia is also found during the Coronation in Act 2 and provides several opportunities to boost your Dogmatic Conviction. Recruiting Incendia is done during Act 4 at Footfall. There will be a quest where you plan to ambush Incendia with Tocara. When you encounter Incendia, you get the chance to convince her that her path isn’t what her god supports. When she leaves with her life, she will join your team during the final battle of Act 4.

Uralon

Uralon isn’t encountered like the other two secret companions. You must keep the Blade Shard that you find in Act 1 as a random event. The second Blade Shard is found on Rykad Minoris around the time you reach the Command Center. Put yourself on the Heretical Conviction path in Act 4 and several companions will leave.

When you reach Eufrates II in Act 4, you gain a Chaos Altar in the Rogue Trader’s room. Put the two Blade Shards together at the altar. While you are on Eufrates II, eliminate the Space Marines stationed there and offer the planet to the Chaos Gods. Uralon joins your party after this occurs.

Here’s a quick recap of the recruiting process:

  • The secret companions only appear when you are pursuing one of three Convictions: Dogmatic, Heretical, and Iconoclast.
  • Calligos Winterscale is the Iconoclast secret companion. Help him fight or make peace with the Aeldari in Act 4 to recruit him.
  • Incendia Bastaal-Chorda is the Dogmatic secret companion. Get her to abandon her self-destructive path on Footfall in Act 4 and she will join you.
  • Uralon is the Heretical secret companion. Gather both Blade Shards and put them together at the Chaos Altar. Have Eufrates II fall to the Chaos Gods and he joins your team.
