Sometimes, being short on cash makes you think about how to register a stolen ship at Starfield. If you are on the lawful path, I doubt you will think of these things, but maybe the ship‘s stats will entice you to do so. Getting a good ship can help to save money, and why go through the effort of purchasing one when you can get it right away? But come on, if you’re going to commit a crime, you don’t want to end up in jail or wanted across the galaxy. You might as well “do the right thing”. This guide will teach you how to put your new ship acquisition in your name.

Before you learn how to register a stolen ship in Starfield, you must know how to steal that ship. First things first, you need two skills. You will need to have the piloting skills to be able to make use of the ship’s thrusters. Remember that the higher your expectations for the ship’s characteristics, the higher the piloting rank you must have.

On the other hand, you will need to have the Targeting Control Systems skill. If you want to go unnoticed and not be noticed in the heist operation, we recommend having this skill as high as possible. This skill will allow you to target other ships and thus intervene with their crew.

If you want to skip the step of having to unlock these two skills, choose the bounty hunter background for your character, and these skills will come with it.

OK, it’s time to seize and register a stolen ship in Starfield now. If you want your new ship to work correctly, try not to go crazy attacking and simply follow the instructions that your Target Lock marks on your HUD. To make these instructions visible, lock on to the enemy ship and get as close as possible.

The objective will be to shoot at the engines and decrease their ability to function. Shoot until the bars indicating the status of the engines are grey. This way, you can be sure the engines have suffered the expected failure. When the ship comes to a stop, stick to it and dock.

Once you are docked, you must board the ship to get rid of the crew and make it yours.

Starfield: How To Register a Stolen Ship

The game gives you two options to register the ship you have stolen:

Land at a City Port and Talk to the Ship Technician

Interact with the Ship Technician and choose the alternative of viewing and adjusting your ships. You will immediately be prompted to register your new ship in Starfield to perform actions on it. This registration procedure will involve the use of some credits from your account. Once completed, you can customize the ship to your preferences.

Use Your Menu From the Top of the Ship

Once you have taken command of your new ship, select the lower left quadrant from your menu and go to the ship’s statistics. Once there, set it as your home ship from the button on the bottom right-hand side of the menu. Use the same button to register it in your name in Starfield.
