When you first visit the Rosymorn Monastery, you’ll notice something unusual: a stained-glass puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3. While it’s not a surprise that there are puzzles and challenges around every corner of the game, this one might be a bit tricky. You’ll need to collect three different weapons from around the area, then head back up and place them on the correct pedestals before unearthing the Dawnmaster’s Crest item. Let’s take a closer look at how to solve the stained-glass puzzle and get the Dawnmaster’s Crest in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Where to Find the Stained Glass Puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3
(Updated on October 4, 2024 – updated links and format)
You can find the stained glass puzzle room and all four pedestals in the Northernmost portion of the Rosymorn Monastery. To see the Monastery, you should pass through the Mountain Pass first and continue down the road. Be aware that you must do a lot of climbing and jumping to maneuver the outside portions of the Rosymorn Monastery.
How To Solve the Stained Glass Puzzle and Get Dawnmaster’s Crest
To solve the puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3, you must collect three weapons: a Ceremonial Warhammer, a Ceremonial Battleaxe, and a Rusty Mace. Each of these weapons must be placed on the correct pedestal surrounding the Stained Glass in the center of the room. Once you’ve placed them all correctly, you will complete the stained glass puzzle and obtain the Dawnmaster’s Crest in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How To Get the Ceremonial Warhammer
To get the Ceremonial Warhammer, you’ll have to head back to where you first climbed up to the roof of the Rosymorn Monastery. Here, you’ll find a couple of Giant Eagles and an Ancient Giant Eagle. The Ancient Giant Eagle will guard his nest, which just so happens to contain the Ceremonial Warhammer you need to solve the stained glass puzzle.
You’ll have to defeat the Ancient Giant Eagle to get the Warhammer. Make sure you utilize plenty of paralytic spells along with fire spells since they are weak to fire damage.
How To Get the Rusty Mace
Obtaining the Rusty Mace is much easier and doesn’t involve any combat. However, you must traverse rough paths and jump over obstacles to reach its location.
Beginning where you picked up the Ceremonial Warhammer, head down the Knotted Roots to reach the floor below you. From here, look around for a flight of steps interrupted by an obstacle about halfway down. Climb the steps and jump over the gap in them to reach the bottom. Once you make it all the way down, look to the right and begin heading that way until you find a large hole in the wall that’s been boarded up with wood. Bust through the boards using a melee weapon, then climb over to the other side of the wall. Here, you will find the Rusty Mace lying on the ground near debris and a large stained glass window.
How To Get the Ceremonial Battleaxe
Head back to the stained glass puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3 and look down the hallway to your left. You should see a missing portion of the floor along with a tree that blocks your path. Jump over the tree and continue down that path. Soon, you will approach a door that is glowing yellow. You must use a lockpick on this door, but the difficulty class is quite high, so use your best character for Slight of Hand, like Astarion.
Once you’re inside, you’ll need to break a bed and a bench, which can be done with a melee weapon or spells. Clear the path to get inside the room. You will see a Guardian of Faith standing in the center of the room. Take down the Guardian of Faith, and you will be able to pick up the Ceremonial BAttleaxe that sits at its feet. Please beware of the Guardian of Faith’s attacks, as it hits quite hard. If possible, it’s best to take it out with ranged attacks and magic.
How To Get the Dawnmaster’s Crest in Baldur’s Gate 3
Now that you’ve got all the required items, it’s time to throw them around in the puzzle room–literally. You must place a weapon on each of the empty pedestals by throwing them from your inventory and aiming so they land on the correct pedestal. From left to right as you stand in the doorway, the weapons should be thrown in this order:
- Ceremonial Warhammer
- Ceremonial Battleaxe
- Rusty Mace
Once all three weapons are placed correctly, a portion of the wall will open up to reveal a pouch that contains the Dawnmaster’s Crest. This completes the stained glass puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3
