Since the release of Genshin Impact‘s Sumeru region and its Dendro character roster, Quicken and its related Elemental Reactions have popularized various team comps involving Dendro and Electro units. Similar to Vaporize, Melt, or Bloom, the core mechanic of Quicken is to deal bonus damage to enemy mobs susceptible to the Elemental Reaction. Quicken itself does not inflict the bonus damage but triggers follow-up reactions, Aggravate and Spread, with its Quicken Aura. Naturally, all of these complex mechanics can confuse players, both new and old, so we will do our best to explain things clearly regarding what Quicken does in Genshin Impact and how to utilize it.Â
What does Quicken Reaction do in Genshin Impact
For clarification, Quicken is one part of the Elemental Reaction trinity called Catalyze. Catalyze is triggered whenever Dendro and Electro are inflicted on a single target, initiating the Quicken Aura. Attacking this affected enemy with either Dendro or Electro again will then trigger Aggravate or Spread, two Elemental Reactions that deal Bonus DMG.

Who Is Scarlett in Genshin Impact? Answered
For example, we equipped Dendro Traveler and Fischl in our party. We first had Fischl cast her Elemental Skill to release Oz, who applied Electro to our target, an Inazuman Specter. Next, we cast Dendro Traveler’s skill, resulting in Oz’s Electro and Dendro combining to trigger the Quicken Reaction in Genshin Impact. From this point, we could then follow up with another Electro or Dendro ability to initiate Aggravate or Spread for extra damage. If we decided to instead cast Pyro or Hydro with other characters, the Quicken effect would dissipate, replaced with Burning or Bloom, respectively.Â
To reiterate, Spread is triggered whenever you attack a Quicken Aura target with Dendro, and Aggravate occurs when your “Quickened” enemy is inflicted with Electro in Genshin Impact. With these Elemental Reactions in mind, there are multiple characters that make excellent team members for initiating these bonus damage-dealing reactions. Such units include Raiden, Yae Miko, and Shinobu for Electro application, while Nahida and Alhaitham are fantastic Dendro users. To ensure your Elemental Reactions are triggered, having some with crowd control like Kazuha can be very beneficial for combat.Â
