Risk of Rain Remake is brimming with a plethora of old and new characters. Acrid is one of the characters returning to the game. Acrid is a powerful character with poison-laced abilities that can devastate enemies and take down tanky enemies with ease. Although unlocking Survivors usually isn’t very difficult, unlocking Acrid and using them is a bit tricky. So, let’s explain how to unlock Acrid in Risk of Rain Returns quickly.

To unlock Acrid and make him a playable character, you actually need to beat him. Although most Survivors in the game are unlocked differently, the situation is a bit different for Acrid. Acrid can be found in the third area of Risk of Returns, and he is called an “experiment”.

First of all, head to Sunken Tombs. Then, move towards the top-right corner of the map. Here you will find a cage where the “experiment”, that is, Acrid, is kept closed. Acrid’s spawn location may not always be the same, but it is usually on the far right of the map. Once you release him, he’ll attack you and force you to beat him.

Taking down Acrid is not as difficult as it seems. Acrid’s attacks do not deal much damage, but they can wear you down quickly. He spits Neurotoxin and uses his claws, which are very easy to dodge. If you are playing a ranged Survivor, it will be easier to kite Acrid.

Once you defeat Acrid, you’ll get a “Challenge Complete” notification, meaning you successfully unlocked your new Survivor. Acrid is undoubtedly one of the game’s most enjoyable and broken characters. Especially new players can do very well with Acrid’s high damage deal capacity.
