Once Human is a game that provides players with many ways to defeat their enemies, whether they are other Meta-Humans or Deviants. Initially, you’ll only have your trusty machete and a crossbow, which are great in their own way. However, as you progress through this title, you’ll need to bring out the big guns to make your way to every nook and cranny of this supernatural map. So, if you’ve established your base, gathered your survival equipment, and want to start getting some firepower, here we’ll tell you how to unlock and craft guns in Once Human.

While you can loot some guns in Once Human, it is better to know how to craft them at your base. While it might take a while to get the materials and recipes, the payoff is fantastic, and it is much faster than trying to fight with the game’s RNG. To get started, do the following:

  1. Follow the main story until you meet Mary.
  2. After interacting with her, she’ll give you a pistol blueprint.
    1. Alternatively, you can use Ciphers to unlock weapon blueprints.
  3. Head back to your base and build the Supplies Workbench and Gear Workbench.
  4. Once you have them, interact with the Gear Workbench first.

The Gear Workbench is the facility that allows you to craft guns and armor in Once Human. The Supplies Workbench allows you to create ammo, tools, and throwable items. We’ll work with the Gear Workbench first.

Once you interact with the Gear Workbench, you can pick any of the blueprints you have to start crafting. However, contrary to other survival games, there are extra steps to make a weapon here. First, you need to build all the parts for your gun. You can do so by hovering down to where the empty squares are to see the materials you need. For example, to make a normal pistol, you need to build the following:

  • Pistol Frame: Wastle Plastic x6, Adhesive x4
  • Recoil Action: Copper Ingot x2, Rusted Parts x6
  • Pistol Side: Copper Ingot x1, Waste Plastic x3

Once you’ve built these parts, hold F to construct the pistol as a whole. Remember that this process applies to every armament you want to build, and the materials will vary depending on the tier, rarity, and gun. Before equipping your weapon, remember to visit the Supplies Workbench to craft ammo.

I recommend starting with a pistol or a shotgun in Once Human, as these guns are the easiest to craft in the early game. If you want something stronger, you can save materials for the PDW-7 B.P. Submachine gun, which packs great damage and firing rate. However, you won’t use it a lot against the weak enemies of the first areas. Ultimately, it’s up to choose which one to build, but one thing’s for sure: never leave your base unarmed.
