Believe it or not, fashion is a big thing around Pywell, or at least for a couple of Greymane members who want to look cool while fighting bandits and helping those around these lands. Naturally, all three playable characters and their mounts can add some flashy elements to their outfits, and in this case, we’re talking about dyes. Crimson Desert has one of the most in-depth and engaging dye systems, and here we’ll tell you how to unlock dyes and where to use them.
How To Use Dyes

If you’re lucky enough, chances are you might have found a couple of dye bottles during your adventures in Crimson Desert. However, you might not know what to do, as the game doesn’t show you this system until you follow one specific quest with Naira at camp.
While you can wait until you complete this mission called Gloomy Gray, you can actually start using dyes way before that happens.
To get started, you need either a dye bottle or the materials to craft one. For the former, all you need to do is select “Use” from your inventory, and this will add the dye to your collection. If you’re crafting one, you need to find a dyeing station, with the closest one being at the Hernand Farmhouse outside of the first city you visit. You can find it easily by looking at the colored clothes next to the river.
In any case, once you find the dyer, talk to them, and you’ll see the option to dye your clothes.
It is important to note that the dyeing options will change depending on the armor pieces you’re wearing. Some have several dyeing channels that affect different elements of the armor piece, while some only have a few, and a couple can’t be dyed at all. You’ll have to experiment with your outfit at the dyeing station to see which options you have. The same applies to your mount’s gear.
One important thing to remember is that using dyes will not remove them from your options, meaning that once you unlock them, you can use them as many times as you want, provided you have enough money. Also, we saw that one dye unlocked several tones of one color for us, meaning that you’ll get a plethora of colors just with one bottle.
If you want to unlock as many dyes as possible, we recommend looking for recipes or crafting the ones available at each dyeing station. Just make sure to have enough materials, which aren’t that hard to come by, as many involve insects and plants. Once you have enough, get ready to go wild and embrace your fashionista side in Pywell.
