While the first weapon you get is great, it’s always useful to know how to unlock and craft new weapons in Monster Hunter Now. Different weapons have varying stats and abilities. These abilities and stats can be useful against specific enemies. For instance, the Kulu-Ya-Ku enemy has an elemental weakness to water, so using a weapon that has the water element can deal more damage than your starter weapon would be able to. There are several weapons in the game, and you can craft new ones after taking down big enemies. Let’s learn more about how to unlock and craft new weapons in Monster Hunter Now.

Unlocking new weapons can be a bit risky. Since each new weapon requires materials from a big enemy, you will have to take down new big enemies in order to unlock new weapons. However, if you pay attention to their elemental weaknesses and use the right weapons and armor, you can take them down in no time. To start with, you have the Hunter’s Knife, but there are several more that you can unlock, including:

  • Jagras Edge
    • Unlocked by defeating large Jagras
  • Blooming Knife
    • Unlocked by defeating large Pukei-Pukei
  • Carapace Edge
    • Unlocked by defeating large Barroth

Crafting new weapons is quite simple, assuming you have the correct resources required for each piece. Finding the right resources can be daunting, but it is possible. Oftentimes to craft a new weapon, it will require Zenny, an item dropped from a large enemy, and resources from basic enemies. So far, we have unlocked weapons from the Jagras, Pukei-Pukei, and Barroth. All three of them can be crafted after defeating a large enemy once, but if you wish to upgrade them, you’ll have to fight many more large monsters.

  • Jagras Edge
    • Water element
    • Crafted with Great Jagras drops, Zenny, and basic monster drops.
  • Blooming Knife
    • Poison element
    • Crafted with Great Pukei-Pukei drops, Zenny, and basic monster drops.
  • Carapace Edge
    • No element
    • Crafted with Great Barroth drops, Zenny, and basic monster drops.

There are many more weapons to be unlocked and crafted in Monster Hunter Now, so be on the lookout and save up those monster drops and Zenny!

Jordan is an experienced fantasy writer who spends hours behind her laptop, and lost in the pages of a book. She strives to be a successful gaming blogger, and has no complaint about the hours of game time she used to increase her knowledge of all things “geek”. She primarily writes gaming articles and fantasy novels. Ark: Survival Evolved is a favorite, along with Diablo 3, Warframe and Minecraft lately, though you can’t forget the good old Magic the Gathering card game! Writing about games truly gives her joy as it gives her another perspective to look at games from, a reason to really look into the mechanics of the game.
