Among the three endgame activities in Last Epoch, Empowered Monoliths are the richest in terms of content. That’s because you can play it with an indefinitely scaling difficulty as long as you can handle its endgame absurdity. But to get to that point, you’ll need to grease those elbows (or those wrists) because it’s quite a grind to unlock Empowered Monoliths in Last Epoch. Here’s how to do it as fast as the game allows.
Finish All the Monolith Timelines
In order to unlock Empowered Monoliths in Last Epoch, you will need to clear all of the timelines present in the Monolith of Fates. These range from level 58 to level 90 map clusters, each with its own rewards and difficulty modifiers.
If you’re solo or offline, then there’s no way to do this ‘fast’ or cheese it so you can unlock it early on (as soon as you’re granted access to the End of Time area). You’ll have to finish each Monolith timeline one by one by killing the timeline bosses after filling up the progress meter in each timeline (which you can achieve by finishing Monolith Echoes).
However, we do have some solo tips so you can shorten the process of grinding out your Monoliths.
- Finish as many Echoes as fast as you can; don’t bother maxing out the Bonus Stability because doing that means you have to find and chase enemies all over the big map.
- Use a Loot Filter and customize it based on what you want. Check out our Loot Filter guide for help. Checking fewer loot leads to less combat downtime.
- Boost your Movement Speed and use Traversal Skills to finish quicker.
- Consider relying on Skills or weapons that instantly kill enemies if they reach a percentage threshold of their Health (15 percent or so). This way, you’re effectively removing a big chunk of the boss’ Health.
Once you’ve finished the three level 90 timelines, go to the center island that connects all three of them and activate it to unlock Empowered Monoliths (level 100 timelines). See the image above for reference.
Asking a Friend to ‘Taxi’ You is Faster
If you really want to unlock Empowered Monoliths fast and as soon as you get to the End of Time area during the main quest (around level 20-30), then you can ask a high-level friend.
You can party up, invite them to your Monolith of Fates runs, and have them be your bodyguard so you can rush through the Monolith to finish the three level 90 timelines. For you to make good progress, you will have to choose the Monoliths and Echoes; otherwise, the progress will go to your friend.
This might still take an hour or two, depending on how good your high-level friend is, but it can be faster than solo leveling all the way to the three level 90 timelines.
Bear in mind that you will still need to level up your character, or you won’t be able to handle the Empowered Monoliths.
