Pilot, along with Artificer and Drifter, is one of the survivors who appears in Risk of Rain Returns. If you’re a fan of this series, you might remember this character as the pilot of the Contact Light ship in the original game, but back then he was just an NPC. Now you have the opportunity to play as this character, so we’ll show you how to unlock Pilot in Risk of Rain Returns. Luckily, you won’t have to complete any difficult and time-consuming quests but simply progress through the game by collecting specific items. Read on to find out the details, as well as see the skills this survivor has.
Risk of Rain Returns: How to Get the Pilot
The process of unlocking Pilot does not require completing quests or performing complicated tasks. Instead, all you have to do is kill monsters as usual. As you progress through the levels and kill enemies, sometimes you can get unique Monster Log items from them. So, all you have to do is collect 15 unique Monster Log items.
It may take some time, but don’t worry, it’s worth it. Once you have collected 15 unique Monster Log items, you will see that the Pilot is unlocked, and you can choose it for the next run.
Pilot Skills
Pilot’s abilities are truly impressive, as you can now attack not only from the ground but also from the air. It may take some time to learn and master all of his abilities, but once you get the hang of it, completing levels and killing enemies will be a much easier process. So, here are the skills this character has:
Skill | Action |
Clusterfire | The basic attack, during which you fire from your weapon, dealing 95% damage, and every third hit deals 190% damage and pierces enemies. |
Rapid Deployment | When you’re on the ground and use this ability, you stun your enemies and open your parachute to take off. If you are already in the air, just jump forward. |
Target Acquired | A powerful attack that you can use both on the ground and in the air to throw a volley of projectiles at enemies, dealing 3×115% damage. The shots will move diagonally and deal damage to enemies in the air if you are on the ground, or to enemies on the ground if you are in the air. |
Airstrike | When you use this ability, you jump backward, leaving a bomb in the place where you were just now. You can also do this while in the air and leave a bomb below you. As soon as the enemy steps on the bomb, they will be thrown upwards and deal 150% damage. |
Risk of Rain Returns is now available for PC and Nintendo Switch.
