Like previous titles in the series, Risk of Rain Returns relies heavily on luck. Exploring each level, you will find chests with random items that can significantly enhance your build. Or not, if you’re unlucky. Fortunately, various artifacts in the game can radically change your runs. One of these items is the Artifact of Command, which will remove randomness from Risk of Rain Returns. Plus, unlocking it is quite easy if you know where to look.
Where To Find the Artifact of Command
Unlike other Artifacts in Risk of Rain Returns, the Artifact of Command is quite easy to find. You don’t need to complete difficult challenges or play as specific characters to do this. All you have to do is get to the desired corner of the map.
So, to unlock the Artifact of Command in Risk of Rain Returns, you need to advance in the run until you reach the Hive Cluster location. It is one of two possible locations for level 4. Therefore, it may take you several tries.
Then, you must fight your way through the enemies to the top right corner of the map. There you will see the Artifact of Command on the platform. But to get there you will need a little preparation:
- Pick up a Hopoo Feather or Photon Jetpack to increase your mobility. You can also use characters with high mobility, such as Huntress.
- Then climb up the large vine to the ceiling.
- After this, you will need to jump on the vines to get to the Artifact of Command in Risk of Rain Returns. It is important to note that vines appear and disappear, but only visually. Even if the vine is not visible, you can still hold on to it.
- Finally, jump to the platform on the right, and you will receive the desired Artifact.
How Does the Artifact of Command Work?
As we said earlier, the Artifact of Command removes the element of randomness from Risk of Rain Returns. After equipping it, you will find chests with different rarities during the run:
- White – Common
- Green – Uncommon
- Red – Rare
- Orange – Equipment
When you open one of these, you can choose any of the items of the corresponding rarity. In other words, you can easily assemble the build you need from the first chests in your run.
