Although Dragon’s Dogma 2 players can get access to the Mystic Spearhand vocation early in their playthrough, the Trickster, Magick Archer, and Warfarer can only be unlocked later on, with the latter two being featured in an area you will only normally visit in the late-game. But did you know that there’s a way to get access to all three vocations early on and within a single trip? To do so, however, you will need to make a rather dangerous trek.

How To Get the Trickster, Magick Archer, and Warfarer Fast in Dragon’s Dogma 2

You can unlock the Trickster, Magick Archer, and Warfarer vocations early on in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by crossing the border to Battahl illegally before visiting the Reverent Shrine (for the Trickster) and then completing The Sotted Sage and Put a Spring in Thy Step quests for the Warfarer and Magick Archer vocations respectively. You can check out a step-by-step guide on how to get all three vocations in a single trip below.

Step 1: Acquire 1x Newt Liqueur and Cross the Border to Battahl

To start our path to getting all vocations early, you must first get one bottle of Newt Liqueur, as you will need three to complete The Sotted Sage. The bottle can be acquired by combining 1x Fruit Wine and 1x Saurian Tail. You can get both items by doing the following:

  • Fruit Wine: Acquired by either opening chests or by completing at least two tasks part of Monster Culling and then taking part in A Place to Call Home, which will prompt Captain Brant to leave one for you in front of your home.
  • Saurian Tail: Acquired by cutting off the tail of any type of Saurian (chance drop).

Once you get the Newt Liqueur bottle, it’s time to cross the border to Battahl. You can find the gate leading to the region by heading to Checkpoint Rest Town and then get past it early by jumping into any of the carts crossing it. If you have already triggered Nation of the Lambent Flame, you will be able to get to the region legally by presenting your permit. The game’s difficulty will spike lightly when in Battahl, so keep that in mind.

Step 2: Get the Trickster Vocation

After crossing the border, your next step will be acquiring the Trickster Vocation. As we mentioned above, you can get the vocation by heading to Reverent Shrine. The shrine is located southwest of Checkpoint Rest Town. You will be able to access it by simply heading down from it and then east until you reach the area highlighted in the image below. Once there, you will be greeted by Luz. Simply talk to her to unlock the vocation.

Step 3: Acquire Another Bottle of Newt Liqueur

After getting the Trickster vocation, we will shift our focus to getting a second bottle of Newt Liqueur. You will be able to get the bottle by heading to Bakbattahl and then making your way to the area marked on the map below. There, an NPC called Earland will approach you and offer to sell you the item for 2,000G. Purchase the item and then head to the next step.

Step 4: Reach Agamen Volcanic Island

Now that you have acquired two bottles of Newt Liqueur, it’s time to head to Agamen Volcanic Island, as the region will be the stage for the quests that will unlock both the Magick Archer and Warfarer vocations. To reach the area early, head to the entrance of Drabnir’s Grotto, which is highlighted in the image below. After crossing the cave, you will reach the Island. When traveling, make sure to save 3x herbs of any kind (such as Morningtides and Wildflowers), as you will need the items to trigger Put a Spring in Thy Step.

As Drabnir’s Grotto will be swarming with enemies, I recommend that those below level 30 only venture forth into the area while using the Mystic Spearhand vocation and equipped with the Mirour Vesture/Shelde Skill. When used, the skill will allow the Arisen to shield the whole party against all kinds of incoming damage for a short while. As a late-game area, Agamen Volcanic Island will feature a plethora of elite enemies, so make sure to prepare a wide array of curatives and not underestimate your foes.

Step 5: Get a Third Bottle of Newt Liqueur and Unlock the Magick Archer Vocation

Once at Agamen Volcanic Island, follow the main path until you meet an old Dwarf called Gautstafr, who will be rendered almost immobile given his back pain. After talking to him, give Gautstafr the three herbs you saved to trigger Put a Spring in Thy Step.

Now, follow the quest marker to Gautstafr’s home, and after being introduced to Cliodhna —his wife and the Magick Archer Maister— head inside. Once inside, talk to him and volunteer to take him to the Geyser Hamlet Hot Spring. The hot spring will be located on Volcanic Island Camp. After he accepts, grab the bottle of Newt Liqueur located atop his center table and then head out toward the area. You can check out the location of Volcanic Island Camp in the image below.

Shortly after you arrive at Geyser Hamlet, Cliodhna will appear, and you will unlock the Magick Archer vocation. Talking to her again before she leaves will allow you to get both the vocation and its Martyr’s Bolt Maister Skill in one fell swoop.

Final Step: Get the Warfarer Vocation

After unlocking the Magick Archer vocation, it’s time to get the Warfarer. A feat you can do by simply talking to Lamond, who will be sitting by the bathhouse’s entrance, and then gifting him with the three bottles of Newt Liqueur we have been saving one at a time. After you give him the third bottle, he will reveal his identity and you will unlock both the Warfarer Vocation and its Rearmament Maister Skill.

Now that you have unlocked the Trickster, Magick Archer, and Warfarer vocations, I highly recommend that you place a Portable Portcrystal in Volcanic Island Camp. The area features some of the best mid-to-late game armor sets and weapons in the game, so doing it will allow you to get access to the items without having to go through the trouble of crossing Drabnir’s Grotto and walking for what feels like an eternity.

You can play Dragon’s Dogma 2 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
