The Warlock is one of the unlockable characters in Halls of Torment, an indie roguelike RPG with a look similar to Diablo. This game, developed by the creators of Good Company, features a total of seven unique characters with distinct playstyles. However, only one is available initially, and the rest must be unlocked beforehand. For fans of summoning magic, Warlock is your friend in Halls of Torment, and here’s how you can unlock him.
Halls of Torment: How Can You Unlock the Warlock, Answered
To unlock the Warlock in Halls of Torment, you must beat the Wyrm Queen Elite enemy in the Ember Grounds level. A part of the “Ember Boss 3” Quest, the Wyrm Queen can spawn once only six minutes are left on the timer. The Ember Grounds is the second level or Hall that you can access in the game.
Truth be told, the Wyrm Queen isn’t a particularly hard enemy to beat. Just like most Elite enemies, you have to be a bit persistent and equip your character with appropriate gear. However, one thing makes it more annoying than other enemies. The Wyrm Queen can go underground, circle around, and catch you surprised. As you can expect, she is impervious to damage while she is underground. You have to defeat her before the timer runs out as well. Her hit-and-run tactic might end up costing you valuable time!
If you enjoy playing as the Necromancer in Diablo, you will want to unlock Warlock in Halls of Torment. He is squishy, but his playstyle focuses on summoning ghosts and spirits that chase enemies. Be careful, though, since the basic “ghost fire rate” is somewhat low, leaving you vulnerable for a few seconds.
Equip your character with the best gear from the start to make unlocking Necromancer in Halls of Torment easier. Save the Wellkeeper so you can save the best equipment item from runs. Get helpful Blessings from the Shrine of Blessings. Picking Movement Speed boosts and DPS buffs is a decent way to make your Necromancer more effective. Don’t forget to grab Scrolls of Mastery as fast as you can. Acquiring a Scroll of Mastery allows you to clear out waves of enemies more quickly. It can be found in all Halls, one in Haunted Caverns and two in both Ember Ground and Forgotten Viaduct. Elite enemies sometimes will also drop the item.
