Lords of the Fallen will challenge you as you fight through several enemies and bosses. While you can upgrade your stats to battle against enemies, that’s only one part of your arsenal. Upgrading your weapons is the second advantage that helps you overpower your foes, especially if you aren’t a spellcasting class. You won’t get the option to upgrade your weapons immediately as it is something you must work towards. Here’s how you upgrade weapons in Lords of the Fallen.
Using the Blacksmith to Upgrade Your Weapons
Upgrading your weapons in Lords of the Fallen requires two materials: Vigor and Deralium Ore. Vigor is obtained just like souls in Dark Souls 3; it’s also how you upgrade your stats. Deralium Ore requires going around the world, fighting enemies and opening chests to obtain it. The ore can also be a quest reward though not a reward for every quest.
Just like other Souls-like games, Lords of the Fallen will require increasing amounts of Deralium Ore and Vigor for upgrades. Fortunately, you should have a better grasp on what weapons you will use and the playstyles you prefer. That helps you narrow down the weapons you upgrade and ensure you make the most of your resources.
You can upgrade weapons, shields, and catalysts as much as you want. Armor cannot be upgraded and you must find better gear if you wish to upgrade them. Pay attention to enemy drops and hidden chests if you want to find better defenses. Make sure that if you are upgrading a weapon, it’s a weapon you can equip and it isn’t outside your stat range.
It’s not hard to find Deralium Fragments that help you strengthen your gear early on. Farming some Vigor isn’t difficult either, letting you get an edge over enemies. By the time you actually find Gerlinde for upgrades, the bosses you encounter pack a punch. Never forget to upgrade and always keep a few weapons on hand depending on the situation.
