You don’t just have the ability to travel to hundreds of planets and see some of the wildest species of aliens and enemies you’ve ever experienced on a spaceship when playing Starfield. There is also a wide variety of other things you can do, like enjoy your experience again in New Game Plus or focus on other, more practical things like upgrading your suit. If you don’t already know how to do this, we’ll show you exactly how to upgrade your suit in Starfield.

Upgrading your suit is important when it comes to fighting against the perils of radiation or the extremities of weather on different planets. Considering that, you’re going to want to head over to a Spacesuit Workbench in order to install the upgrades that you need for your suit. These upgrades are called mods, and they each have different things that they can do with respect to your suits. For example, in the image that we used above, the Ballistic Shielding mod is selected, which has a value of 37,180 and requires the use of one Cosmetic and two Fibers to create. Adding this mod to your suit would increase damage resistance specifically.

There are different mods that do different things, such as the Energy Shielding mod or the EM Shielding mod as pictured above. Unfortunately, your ship isn’t fitted with a Spacesuit Workbench, so you’ll need to head over to somewhere that does, like the basement of the Lodge. Of course, you can upgrade your shit to be fitted with one at a later time, but it isn’t at the very beginning of the game. It’s important to note that the more complicated or advanced the mod, the more items it will require.

For some of these mods, you will need the Pack Mods research project upgrade. You’ll also need to make sure that you add a few skill points every time you level up to Spacesuit Design skill so that you can have an easier time when it comes to adding these mods. What’s interesting is that some of these mods will have a percentage next to them that indicates the amount of resources needed to begin to project with the intention that the rest will be brought at a later time. This means that you can start projects without having all the necessary resources, finding them as you wait.
