Before you learn to use Tactical Gear in PUBG, you must understand how it locks you into your chosen piece. Thanks to update 24.1, players are granted Tactical Gear at the beginning of the match. It saves you time, so you don’t have to search for anything to keep you alive right away. However, it does come with a catch. You must stay with your chosen Gear. We’ll guide you through how this works and how to use each Tactical Gear piece.
Tactical Gear in PUBG – Guide
Once PUBG switched to free-to-play, they added exciting features to bring in new players and add something more for veterans. Tactical Gear is one of those features. There are several available items to give yourself a better shot at surviving. You can use the Tactical Gear in PUBG listed below:
- Blue Chip Detector
- Drone
- EMT Gear
- Repair Kit
- Spotter Scope
- Tactical Pack
However, PUBG has the Tactical Gear locked due to the latest update. When you enter the map, you have a Tactical Gear Carrier. There’s no weight to it, and once you select your Gear, it’s in a designated sixth slot. Once you open the Carrier, you choose from the Gear we listed above. Be sure you know what you want because you cannot remove your selected Gear.
Note that if you die, you will not drop your Gear. Instead, it and the PUBG Tactical Gear Carrier are removed from the match. When recalled back to the game, you won’t have a new Tactical Gear Carrier to choose new Gear.
Now we can focus on how to use Tactical Gear in PUBG. We will go through each of the six options to help you decide which one is worth choosing for your playstyle in the beginning.
Blue Chip Detector
If you played with the Blue Chip Detector before the update, it received a slight nerf. You can’t detect players who have a Jammer Pack. The screen now updates every 8 seconds. Meanwhile, the enemy scan radius is now 50m rather than 100m.
Drone
The Drone Tactical Gear in PUBG now only has a maximum range of 200m. It’s a slight decrease from the 300m it had pre-update, so some extra strategy is required to use the Drone.
EMT Gear
Your party needs a healer. If that person is you, note the various changes with this Tactical Gear. Only a Med Kit is used to heal teammates. The Med Kit usage time increases to 7 seconds. Another increase is with the First Aid Kit. It’s now 5 seconds. Meanwhile, they’ve increased the teammate revival speed to 8 seconds. You can get a personal 50% boost with Energy Drinks and Painkillers.
Repair Kit
Repair Kits used to be consumables, but they’re now part of the PUBG Tactical Gear. You can only use them up to 10 times in any match. Also, you can use the Gear to remove tires on certain vehicles. Remember to have your teammates cover you, as it’s easy for enemies to take you out.
Spotter Scope
You can observe better with the Spotter Scope this time around. It magnifies up to 8x, and you can create Standard Screen Pings with it. You also automatically make the red active marker to save more time.
Tactical Pack
The Tactical Pack is almost exactly like a Level 4 Backpack now. Your attachment slots are now 2 instead of 4.
PUBG: Battlegrounds is available for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, iOS, and Android.
