The Hunger Games is back with a fresh prequel called The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. This time, the story is about Lucy Gray Baird from District 12 and a young guy named Coriolanus Snow. Fans are excited, but there’s a catch: for more movies, the original author, Suzanne Collins, needs to write another book. After the huge hits of the past films, everyone’s wondering if the series will keep shining.
Will There Be Another Hunger Game Movie?
Francis Lawrence, who directed the new prequel, spoke to EW about the possibility of another film. He said he would only come back if there’s a new story from Suzanne Collins. He explained:
“If Suzanne has another thematic idea that she feels fits into the world of Panem โ whether with new people or familiar characters โ I’d be interested in being a part of it. But I don’t have any pull of just going, like, ‘I would love to do Finnick’s games.’ What are the thematic underpinnings that make it worth telling? The original ones were all about the consequences of war. [BOSS] is about the state of nature. That’s what makes them feel rich โ and why they’ve stood the test of time”

The original Hunger Games movies with Jennifer Lawrence were big hits. They earned over $2.9 billion worldwide. Fans loved the books and were excited to see them as movies. But the last movie was eight years ago. So, it’s not sure if fans will be as excited for the new prequel.

If the new prequel does well in cinemas, there might be another movie. But right now, there’s no new Hunger Games book to make into a film. The latest book was The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes from 2020. And there’s no news about a new book coming as of now.
It’s possible to make a new movie without a book from Collins. But it might not happen. Her stories are a big reason why the movies are popular. They give depth to the Hunger Games world and its characters. So, if there’s a new movie, it might need a new book from Collins first.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes prequel will be in theatres on November 17.
