A Maryland woman shared a video in which she documents her alleged living conditions, and that’s even before it’s known she’s being evicted. This came after she asked for help moving into another apartment due to several disturbing finds.
Posted by Libbadams401, Libby documents one of several tenants evicted in Montgomery County, Maryland. Libby has since shared she too got an eviction notice. She’s here in the video recording another tenant going through the same struggle.
After living there for a year, Libby’s neighbor states, “I’ve had multiple issues since I moved in.” The neighbor gives a tour, with Libby suddenly exclaiming, “I see all the mouse poop.” Numerous mouse droppings are scattered in a close and behind doors.
The conditions worsen as they walk through the house, where the tenant shows Libby that pieces of the floor are missing under the carpet. There’s also water damage on her ceilings and mold in her bathroom, clinging to the vent. Worst of all, she claims her son suffered a mouse bite.
While all of this is being shown, the renter says she’s being “evicted today,” claims it’s in retaliation due to her pointing out issues and filing complaints, that of apparent mold and mice.
The reaction to Maryland tenants’ living conditions and eviction
Many TikTok users commenting on Libby’s video were just as appalled as she was as she gets a good view of her neighbor’s living conditions. Not only did people share their own experience of being wrongly evicted by landlords, they offered advice as to what she could do.
“Take them to court. Me and my mom sued Franklin Park in Greenbelt & won,” a TikTok wrote. In response, one viewer recommended having “photos” and “documents” at the ready.
Another TikTok user suggested contacting “Mongomery County Housing Code Enforcement,” but Libby said it was a dead-end. “They [Montgomery County Housing Code Enforcement] told me they have no control in Rockville because they’re an incorporated city,” Libby stated.
“And they probably charged you $2000+ for that per month,” a viewer guessed. She guessed right. Libby responded, “Yep they do!!”
Well, now it’s :’they do’—in several update videos, Libby has shared she too has suffered an eviction and even shared the email. Although she has stated she already had free legal advice, the courthouse told her it’s “bigger than what they can handle,” and she’ll need a lawyer.
