John Krasinski is going in a different direction after helming the A Quiet Place movies. Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for his latest movie, IF, which sees Ryan Reynolds on a mission to save a group of imaginary friends (seen below). The film will also star Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Maya Rudolph, Jon Stewart, Bobby Moynihan, Sam Rockwell, Sebastian Maniscalco, Christopher Meloni, Richard Jenkins, Awkwafina, and Steve Carell.
The film sees the Deadpool star trying to keep his imaginary friend (Carell) a secret from his daughter (Fleming). When she finds out about the world of imaginary friends, she helps her father find a home for them to save their imaginary lives.
Ryan Reynolds Sees Imaginary Friends in IF Trailer
The two stars of The Office reunited for the film. They had not worked together since The Office ended in 2013 as they went in different directions away from network TV sitcoms.
The IF trailer shows how much of a different direction the director is aiming for after doing two horror movies. He told Collider that he wanted to make for his children with his wife and collaborator Emily Blunt. His wife called A Quiet Place “PG-40” because “You’ll get to see it when you’re 40!'” He talked about how personal of a film this is while also making something that aims for a younger audience.
For me, it was just about what if we could tell a story about these time capsules? Imaginary friends are adorable and all those things, but they’re also time capsules of your hopes, dreams, and ambitions when you were the most fertile of a brain, and it never goes away. I think we’re told that we’re adults instead of what if you realize that you never stopped being a kid.

Now that we have received the trailer for IF, it is becoming clearer how busy Ryan Reynolds will be in 2024. The actor is currently wrapping up Deadpool 3, which will make for the first R-rated movie in the MCU when it hits theaters on July 26. He also has plenty of other projects to work on, like Red Notice 2, Dragon’s Lair, and Clue.
IF will be released on May 17, 2024.
