A woman in Chicago, Illinois, was relaxing right by the beach when a man suddenly approached her. He began talking nonsense to the woman, even mentioning marriage and having kids with her in a total display of inappropriateness.
Chrissy B, whose handle is keepingupwithchrissyb, shared the awkward interaction on TikTok. She is a content creator who mainly posts footwear as a personal shopper, often going viral. The clip attached above, while off-brand, also became popular. It garnered 643,000 views, 91,400 likes, and more than 10,100 comments in a matter of days.
The Illinois woman was chilling at Lake Shore Drive, with books and food included. Suddenly, while she was recording herself for a video, a man who identified himself as Makari Mahal approached her and began talking to her. From the get-go, the man’s tone was invasive, as he asked, “Where mine’s at?” while Chrissy was trying to eat her sandwich.
“What you doing up here, toes all out?” he asked. “What is you doing?” She said, “I’m chilling.” The man told her, “Getting ready for me?” and she told her no.
Marriage And Children
For several minutes, the man continued to bother Chrissy by asking her several questions. These included whether she was married or had any children. When she said she didn’t, he replied, “You trying to have some kids?” and “What if I want to marry you and have kids?” He could also be heard making comments on Chrissy’s body and even entered the frame and threw a peace sign at the camera.
“I think you should continue on doing what you’re about to do. You’re aggravating me,” she said. He replied, “What you hiding? How you expect us to get married?“
Chrissy proceeded to call the man rude, obnoxious, and belligerent. Moments later, she stood up and grabbed her phone, ending the recording. In a follow-up, she explained that she left immediately and returned home.
Reactions
Many viewers were outraged by how the man approached and talked to the Illinois woman. One said, “Girl, that was a demon.” Another one asked, “Why is a stranger threatening you with marriage and children?“
Other viewers detailed how they often handle situations like this. One commented, “I hate men like this. I always pretend I don’t know English when I get randomly approached.” Another one added, “Never confirm that you’re by yourself. Tell them your boyfriend and brother just went to the car or something.”
Chrissy continued to post her regular content following the distasteful encounter, not willing to let it get under her skin.
