Nobody plans on getting into a fender bender, but plenty of people plan on making sure it’s never their fault. A video from Illinois is getting a lot of attention online. It shows a driver who many viewers believe caused a crash, then denied it and argued with the other driver.
The video shows a woman who rear-ended another driver on a road in the Chicago area. She gets out of her car and confronts the other driver.
She can be heard saying, “You hit me,” several times. But what is seen in the video suggests she was the one who did not stop in time.
She denies hitting the other car on purpose, says she is paying for the damage herself, and escalates to the point of saying she is lucky a police officer is nearby because she wants to fight.
At one point, she says, “You’re ultimately *expletive* up my day… I’m a single mom, and I pay for everything myself. This is my *expletive* brand new car.”
She also argues that the other driver had enough room to avoid the crash. She says, “there’s all this grass you could have pulled in,” before adding, “it’s either I hit them or you hit me.”
Internet Reacts to Illinois Woman’s Rear-End Crash Meltdown
Several commenters said the situation felt familiar. One wrote, “had something similar happen to me. woman rear-ended THE CAR BEHIND ME and then she came up and started screaming at me.” Another generalized the behavior, saying, “People like her always claim victim, no matter what the circumstances and believe they are owed everything and accountable for nothing.”
Others focused on what likely caused the crash in the first place. One commenter wrote, “The Jeep is likely at fault. Either she was following too closely, was distracted with something other than driving, or both.” Another used the moment to make a broader point, writing, “This is why you should always have cameras on your car.” A fifth commenter kept it short, simply writing, “Great parenting.”
It is not clear from the video who received a citation at the scene. It is also unknown if the crash was reported to insurance or if either driver faced any consequences later. The identities of both women have not been confirmed.
