An Illinois woman was running some errands and excited to spend the day with her daughter, who was having her birthday. But she was stunned by what she discovered when she returned home: Her in-laws threw her daughter a birthday party without her. Now, she’s detailing what happened and why she thinks it’s wrong.
Serene (@sereneworks) was washing clothes at a laundromat and running some general errands on her daughter’s birthday. She had plans to take her daughter out for some fun when she returned home. But those plans were thrown up in the air when she returned home and saw there was a birthday party happening without her. She didn’t even know about it because her in-laws and husband never told her. Serene was shocked that she missed out on watching her daughter eat her birthday cake on her second birthday. She asked them, “Did she celebrate her birthday without me today?”
It turns out, Serene’s brother-in-law was in town for a short period of time so they decided to throw a spontaneous, last-minute birthday party. It just so happens that they did this during the few hours Serene was away from home. She asked her husband why he “said nothing” about this entire event so she could be there. He acted like it wasn’t a big deal that they celebrated without her, leaving her distressed and upset. She then asks her TikTok followers if she’s “being dramatic” or if she’s “the problem” in this situation.
