‘I’m Getting Held Hostage in Walmart’: Arizona Woman Clashes With Workers Over Auto Center Exit

I wonder if it was truly a policy or not

Arizona Woman Chooses Not to Leave Through Front Door at Walmart, Stopped by Auto Workers

While an Arizona woman was shopping at her local Walmart, she decided to use the exit she always does: through the auto center. However, when she tried to do so, she was stopped by auto department workers. They wouldn’t allow her to exit that way and told her to use the doors at the front of the store. From there, drama ensued!

T (@luvelypinkisses816) was at a Phoenix Walmart doing some shopping. When she was finished, she went to purchase some things at the auto center. She paid for her items and tried to leave out the door at the auto center. She asked an employee if they could open the door for her, since it was locked. The employee, as well as a second employee, told her she wasn’t allowed to leave back there and demanded to see her receipt.

Went to Walmart parked at the auto door because i wanted to grab a few things in the dept. When I tried to leave, the door was locked, I asked to be let out and an employee stood in my way while demanding a receipt. Stating I wasn’t allowed to leave through that exit🙄 I’m so tired of these racist losers in Az! I felt singled out, disrespected, and humiliated. #Walmart #racist

In T’s video, you can see the male auto center employee waving at her, and a female loss prevention worker talking on her phone. T explains to her audience, “I’m getting held hostage in Walmart.” The auto center worker explains, “Ma’am, the exit is at the front of the store.” However, T tells him that you don’t have to leave at the front and she’s allowed to leave “at any door.” She tells them, “I come through this door all the time. And I’ll leave through this door. I want to be let out the door. This is considered holding me hostage.”

The auto employee tries to tell T that she “doesn’t have a car in service here” so there’s no reason for her to leave through that door. He tries to tell her that they have a policy against her leaving through that door. But before he’s even done speaking, a third employee exits out the door in the back and T rushes through the door to get away from them and make her escape. The auto center employee walks in front of her and attempts to grab her, blocking her from leaving. She screams, “Hey, don’t hold me hostage! Get your hands off me!” The video ends there, but T says the situation left her feeling, “singled out, disrespected, and humiliated.”

Commenters immediately shared their reactions on T’s video. Some agreed with her while others took the sides of the Walmart employees. One commenter asked, “I thought that door was only if your car is in service? Cuz usually that’s why it’s all the way by the service area.” Another commenter stated, “Girl, you are wrong.” Others disagreed and stated that the Walmart employees shouldn’t have handled things that way. As one pointed out, “I’m a Walmart employee so I’m usually on their side, but absolutely not.” Commenters continue to share their opinions on the video.
