An Arizona father says a routine drop-off took an unexpected turn after the child’s mother left their daughter’s belongings scattered across the pavement before driving away, a moment he captured on video that has now been viewed more than a million times.
The clip attached above was shared on TikTok by Joshua Palmer. He often posts a variety of content on his account, mostly lifestyle videos. The upsetting interaction with his child’s mother, however, became his biggest one yet, garnering 1.3 million views, 226,300 likes, and more than 1,400 comments.
It appears that the Arizona man began recording mid-argument, as the child’s mother is seen shutting the door of the car she is in while Joshua was confronting her. He asked, “Are you being for real?” She answered, “You’re good.”
Joshua’s displeasure was easily explained. As he showed on camera, his child’s mother had apparently dumped all of her child’s belongings on the pavement. Standing in the background was the young girl, who appeared confused by what had just happened. So, the man decided to be warm with her, calling her “Pumpkin” and inviting her to see Bluey with him.
That’s when the man also found out the girl had a dirty diaper on. Joshua blamed his child’s mother for this in an expletive, albeit brief, rant.
Spending Time With Dad
Once inside, the father changed his daughter’s diaper, fed her, and later shared videos of the pair spending several days together after what was initially supposed to be a one-night visit.
In the clip’s description, Joshua provided some context. He said that there are no formal arrangements on when he can see his daughter. However, whenever he did, he did so with the child’s mother. Still, this time around, the woman asked him to watch her for a night, which ended up being five. And while he vlogged each of the five days he shared, he knew something needed to be done.
Now, as per a GoFundMe, he is seeking to retain a family law attorney to fight for his daughter’s custody.
Reactions
The video sparked multiple responses, mostly from viewers appalled by how the mother appeared to have handled the situation. One said, “Take this to court.” Another one commented, “The mom was wrong! Period!“
A small number of users, however, thought Joshua was exaggerating or even at fault. One commented, “She left her with you? Not seeing what’s wrong, honestly.” Another one added, “How dare you have to be a father for a week.” These comments were met with criticism and other viewers calling them out.
While viewers disagreed over certain details of the situation, many focused less on the parents’ argument and more on the little girl caught in the middle. As Joshua says he prepares to pursue custody, the viral video has become part of a much larger conversation about co-parenting and putting children first.
