Some people get frustrated when their food takes too long, but that doesn’t give them the right to act however they want. Restaurants can get busy, and staff are often doing their best to keep up. Still, not everyone shows patience or respect toward restaurant workers. In extreme cases, a delay can even spark a confrontation. Fortunately, one Dunkin’ Donuts location in California avoided an all-out fight. Instead, they had to deal with an impatient and entitled customer who clearly had no regard for anyone else.
In a short video filmed by a customer at the California location, only a handful of people can be seen waiting inside, so it’s clearly not a peak-hour rush. Still, one customer didn’t feel like waiting. While standing near an active oven, he took it upon himself to open the door—not once, but twice. It even appears that the timer may have been reset because of his actions. The clip cuts off before we see how the staff responded, but it’s not hard to imagine their frustration. Whether the food was ruined or just delayed, it’s certainly not the most helpful way to speed things up.
People Reacting to the Entitled California Customer
Thankfully, most people were against what the impatient California customer did. Right away, someone brought politics into the conversation as they claimed that the man voted for Trump. “I know who he voted for,” one woman wrote. This started a long debate, but let’s just say not everyone agreed. Others started calling the guy exactly what he was: entitled. “Ashamed of Nothing. Offended by Everything. Contributes Nothing. Entitled to Everything,” one person wrote. Someone else asked, “What be going through their entitled heads?!” This is something I would love to know as well. Another person suggested how people there should have reacted as they said:
“Just talk to him like he’s senile, usually that makes them seethe. ‘OH HONEY it’s not ready yet, so you gotta go sit down for me, ok? Maybe have your family come up and grab it for you! Go sit down silly!’”
That move definitely would’ve irritated the California customer, and rightly so. Many viewers pointed out how the man was acting like he worked there, casually opening the oven without asking. “Tell him to clock in since he wanna work there so bad,” one person joked. Another likened him to a toddler, writing, “Man, some toddlers just get older…” Not exactly the behavior you’d expect from an adult.
One TikTok commenter also noticed the potential impact on the food: “He also reset that timer, so whatever was in there isn’t going to come out right.” If that’s true, karma may have handled it.
Still, in a surprising twist, someone actually tried to defend him, saying, “No that’s actually fine. Why does it even matter? He’s just checking.” Sure, everyone’s entitled to an opinion… but opening a restaurant oven mid-cook? That’s not exactly standard customer etiquette.
