The latest trailer for NetherRealm’s next fighting game, Injustice 2, revealed that things will be just as chaotic as they were in the first game. The Lines have been drawn and friends become enemies in the sequel to the 2013’s Injustice: God’s Among Us.

As the title implies, the sequel picks up directly after the previous installment, with a trailer showing many shots of Superman chained up in an alternate reality. While Batman emerged victorious in against the Regime, Injustice 2 brings a new threat to Earth, a villain known to many of the fans of the anime called The Brainiac.

In comics and shows Brainiac is either an alien computer system and an alien scientist that became an artificial intelligence, so it should be interesting to see what his exact backstory is for the game. The trailer also revealed a number of classic DC characters missing from the first iteration, including Power Girl, Robin and Poison Ivy.

While the game will feature many new (known) faces, staples of the DC franchise will be returning as well. Superman, Wonder Women, Batman, Supergirl, and Bane appear in one way or another in the trailer, who is on who’s side is the question on everyone’s mind.

Alternate versions of the game (varying in price) will include additional add-ons, with the Digital Deluxe Edition containing three DLC fighters and one unique character skin (Supergirl) and the Ultimate addition containing nine DLC fighters and three unique character skins(Flash, Green Lantern, and Supergirl). For those that simply can’t wait to get their hands on the DC fighting game, pre-ordered versions of the game will come with classic villain Darkseid (and not the crappy Batman v Superman version either).

Injustice 2 will release on May 16 for PS4 and Xbox One, so stay tuned for our official review. Until then, be sure to check back to the site for all you Injustice 2 and nerd related news!
