Today marks the release of Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2, giving fans of web-slinging another opportunity to fly around in the new and improved New York City. However, a notable feature from the previous Spider-Man games from Insomniac is amiss this time around. Although not entirely necessary on day one, New Game Plus is an important thing to have for such a game so players can replay their favorite mission after finishing Spider-Man 2.
Some fans were disappointed by not seeing the option even though it was the very first day of release. Still, luckily, one fan decided to ask Insomniac, and the answer wasn’t disappointing. James Stevenson, the promotional lead at Insomniac was pinged on X (formerly Twitter) by a fan regarding the missing New Game Plus mode. Stevenson said that fans can expect to jump back into the game with all their gear and unlocks sometime before the end of the year.
Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus & Mission Replay Coming Soon
He did say that it “should” be sometime before 2024, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it was delayed a bit into next year. The New Game Plus mode will be accompanied by a Mission Replay feature as well, which will, as the name suggests, allow you to revisit any part of the game you want directly.
Insomniac is known for offering some of the best after-sales support for its titles in the entire industry. The original Spider-Man on PS4 got limitless technical improvements, in-game costumes, and other features after release, all completely free. And things shouldn’t change for Spider-Man 2.
Spider-Man 2 is not an extremely long game boasting hundreds or even thousands of hours of gameplay like the recent Baldur’s Gate 3. But being a narrative-focused experience, it is understandably around 15 hours, with the completionists running out of content in 30 hours or so. This is why some fans have already finished the adventure so soon after the game’s release and already want to go back into the game with all their abilities from the get-go. Insomniac has hit it out of the park yet again and delivered a masterpiece. Spider-Man 2 sets a new bar for what a superhero game can be, and fans couldn’t be happier.
