Apparently, a California driver and a cyclist had a few words to exchange, and then the driver decided to let his car do the talking. The cyclist kept riding after the argument, but the driver followed behind and struck the back of his bicycle.
According to the video, the confrontation began when a man driving a car slowed down next to a man riding a bicycle. The driver asked him what he had said moments earlier.
The cyclist reportedly dismissed him and continued riding. The driver then started recording. He also warned the cyclist to stop using a certain word, or he would “beat him,” according to the footage.
The cyclist did not appear to take the warning seriously. He continued riding away on his bike. The driver followed him and struck the back of the bicycle with his car. The impact sent the cyclist to the ground.
The video shows the cyclist getting back up almost immediately. There are no visible signs of serious injury from the impact. The driver then left the scene, and the clip ends shortly afterward.
The footage does not capture what the cyclist allegedly said that started the confrontation. But as per what the driver is saying in the video, the cyclist appears to have thrown out a racial slur. The driver’s account of what happened, which is relayed through the video itself, has also not been independently verified.
What is clear from the footage is that the collision appears intentional. The car strikes the rear wheel of the bicycle rather than directly hitting the rider, based on how the impact plays out on camera.
The video was shared on Instagram by @iamsteeezy and on X by @B1TuckerCarlson. It quickly picked up traction across both platforms.
Internet Reacts to California Cyclist Car Incident
Reaction to the video has been sharply divided. Some commenters argued that the driver’s response was excessive and dangerous, regardless of what started the confrontation.
One person wrote, “lol *expletive* funny but wrong at the same time you can’t just run people over lol.” Another was more direct, writing, “That’s assault with a deadly weapon.”
One user pushed back against that framing. They wrote, “Congratulations, you just created a racist,” using a mocking tone to suggest that the driver’s actions had backfired.
Others sided firmly with the driver. “Speaking from the perspective of a white boomer cyclist who has little tolerance for drivers who disregard the wellbeing of cyclists, all I can say is ‘bravo!’” one commenter wrote.
Another simply called the moment “beautiful to watch.” A different commenter shifted the conversation toward the dispute that allegedly started everything. They wrote, “It’s so crazy that white people see it as ‘just a word,’ and just don’t get how black people don’t.”
Neither man has been publicly identified. No police report has surfaced alongside the clip circulating online.
